  1. Snowing in Rockaway, too. The sanders have even been through!!!
  2. I posted on the site that I'm planning on attending the prehike, but wanted to be thorough and post here, too. I am probably bringing the youngest cacher with me again. We will definitely want a coin, and if you have any extras from last year, I'll buy one of those, too (since I couldn't go at the last minute last year). I'll check back here on Saturday night. I'm NOT up for the pre-pre-hike. A person has to sleep some of the time... --Pokey
  3. Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to try the EasyGPS as a beginning. Then I'll try to run a pocket query. Wish me luck!
  4. Our group has graduated from our tiny yellow Gekko GPS to a more modern one with the ability to download caches from the computer. I've tried to make sense of how to do this...I can download specific caches, but I would like to be able to upload caches in a specific area. For example, how do I put the caches in for a park? Is this the caches along a route function?? I'm sure all of these directions are found somewhere easy on this website. What I have found just doesn't do the trick for me. I have a Magellan, and, as I said, I can get a list of specific caches on my GPS. I've just seen other cachers with little maps on theirs, showing the caches that are nearby, with hints included. Any comments and help will be appreciated. I guess that if I can't figure this out by September, I'll be pestering some of the accomplished geocachers at the GONE event! One last thought...our group is going to Orlando in August for a softball tournament, and I would like to just download/upload a bunch of caches in that area, in case there is a lull in the action (or, in case I can slink off and disappear for a few hours without anyone missing me!! ) Thanks in advance for any help for this helpless cacher! -Pokey (of Gumby,Pokey, and Kids)
  5. How very cool! I've seen your name all over the caches that we've found (which do not number even close to yours...). Congratulations on this accomplishment! Yee-Haaaaaa!!!
  6. Thanks to all who responded to this. I am so excited now to go to this little get-away; there are pictures on the Mountain House website that show the rock scramble, which I was planning on checking out. Now, I will DEFINITELY check that hike out! And we thought we would just be hanging by the hot tub after our spa treatments...HA! Thanks Team Rampant Lion for the cache suggestions. I would love to fit in some caches, and it already seems like there will be plenty to do in New Paltz. I CANNOT WAIT! Thank God the seven years of Gumby's golf trips with his brothers finally translated into this 3-day adventure!
  7. A friend and I are getting away for a much needed mom's retreat to the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. She has never geocached (geocaught??), and I'm looking for some good (or great) caches near Mohonk that I could take her to. She doesn't have hiking boots, so please keep that in mind. Any neat suggestions in that area would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  8. WOW, 800?! That is fantastic! My son, daughter and I camped at your site for the Gone Caching event this year. We hope to hit your Mt. Tabor cache soon! Have fun as you proceed to 900!
  9. ...and it only took us three years! But, hey, who's counting?! At least we logged our 100th, Boo's Hidey Hole, on the last day of 2007. Special thanks for our success goes to Brian Snat, who saved us utter desperation and despair by giving us two batteries for our Garmin during our first caching event at Camp Glen Gray, GONE Caching 1. Pretty darn embarassing, bringing your two kids to enjoy this great new hobby, only to have your GPS die before the first hunt!
  10. The group has been anxiously awaiting posting of this event! We are looking forward to it, and, having just finished the last HP book, will be very ready for the challenges ahead!
