You make a good point about priorities: it's all about trade-off, and I too prefer longer battery life than snappy auto-rotate. Perhaps we've all been a little spoiled by the iPhone, iPad, and all of the other nifty gadgets of that ilk.

OK, experiment successful. I locked the beastie in portrait mode today and it was much better. The auto-realignment feature has, for me, proven itself to be worse than useless.

That's not a bad idea because I reckon that the vertical screen 'real estate' is more valuable than the horizontal. I'll try it today.

When I move my Montana from landscape orientation to portrait or vice versa, there is commonly a delay of two or three seconds or even longer before the display re-aligns itself. Giving the thing a knock seems to jog it back into wakefulness... sometimes. Even worse is the delay when I flip the Montana upside down (e.g. from portrait to opposite portrait orientation). It's bugging me. Just want to know if others have noticed the same delay, and if it bugs them too.
