  1. I will re-check everything with fresh morning eyes.
  2. Back in 2007, I found a cache (GCYKHG) where the cache owner purposely placed two cache containers at two different, miles apart GZs, and create a puzzle that allowed for two possible solutions. No matter which solution you came up with, a container would be waiting for you. Due to this, the cache owner allowed for multiple (two) find logs on his cache, provided that you solved both puzzle solutions. Well, I did, and found both containers within a month of each other. This is my one and only multiple find log on a cache, and in hindsight I wish I had not bothered. That said, this find is now part of my geocaching history and find counts, and it has been counted as a find since then. until today, I had not noticed the change, but when I started logging my find I noticed that my finds total was reduced by 1. I thought perhaps some disgruntled cache owner had deleted one of my logs, so I ran a bunch of GSAK macros to find where the problem was, and found this. Is this a new policy to not count multiple logs in the total cache find count, or is this a bug at GC.com? Interestingly enough, my milestone stats at GC.com are unaffected, so it seems only the displayed total is wonky.
  3. I assume you have issues with specific cachers in general? I am a member of the CCC and do not appreciate being painted with your broad brush when I don't even know who you are. Have you signed in to the CCC website (http://www.canadascapitalcachers.ca) and attempted to meet other members? Have you attended any of the many events that the CCC have on monthly basis? You are more than welcome to create yourself a splinter group, all the power to you. But, seeing as how you have not made any attempts at meeting the rest of the community, I can't really see who you'll be successful in recruiting. Please, pop over to our forums and chat. Show up at an event and meet the rest of us, we number in the hundreds.
  4. Stumbled acr4oss this thread when searching on this very subject. Worked like a charm! Thanks!
  5. Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm compiling my list now. Cheers.
  6. A friend of mine is going on a second honeymoon starting next weekend, and he'd like to do some caching while he's out there. He's BIG into photography, so I'm looking to compile a list of must-do caches the great views / topics for this shutterbug. Granted, the entire area is one big scenery buffet, but a select few choices and maybe some out-of -the-way areas away from the tourists that the locals could recommend would be great. Please and thanks.
  7. I can't seem to get any images to form on the cache pages or user gallery screens. Essentially, anything coming from here: http://www.geocaching.com/images/ but strangely, images do work from some subfolders, such as: http://www.geocaching.com/images/nav/logo_sub.gif I've cleared my cache, and tried both IE and Firefox, but no dice.
  8. Just installed the latest release of Google Earth Plus 4.0.2091 (beta). Same issue as before, thumbtack icons only.
  9. Riiiight. $$$$$$$$$$imple. You do know this a FREE sport, right? $30 premium memberships don't buy much bandwidth these days. Maybe if GC.com launch a multi-million dollar public stock offering...
  10. I don't think fixing the WAP interface for us is high on anyone's priority list right now. Too many other site issues going on I guess.
  11. I completed a Bookmark list for a friend visiting Winterlude this year. I've just made it public for others to see if your're interested. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...87-da07f5d0cd3a
  12. Sorry, but I think you missed the point. There IS only one standard for CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which all browsers should render the same way. Just like the dictionary companies, they all must publish the same spelling for the same words (and don't go all "country specific" on me now, this is simply an example) Firefox had a bug in version 1.07 that caused it to render incorrectly the CSS standard codes GC.com and many other sites are using. They fixed it in 1.5 If you choose to stand your ground, that's your choice. Asking GC.com to change back because you refuse to fix YOUR problem...
  13. Suppose you have an English dictionary (let's call it version 1.07), that you've used faithfully to check your spelling against, without issue. Then one day, your writing a letter and you look up the word "quandry" and you use it, only to be told later that the word is actually spelled "quandary". Your dictionary is clearly "broken", so the dictionary company gladly provides you with a new dictionary "version 1.5" that fixes the error. The dictionary was clearly in the wrong, having not complied with the standards of the English language, right? How is the Firefox issue any different. GC.com is complying with style sheet coding standards, trying to provide it's users with an improved browsing experience. Until now, they were simply not using some of the codes in this standard, but now they are. Problem is, Firefox 1.07 was not complying with the established standards and needed to be fixed, so Firefox did so, with version 1.5. GC.com is using the standards to their fullest. Your browser is not. So, are you going to get Oxford to change the English language, or get yourself a new dictionary and move on?
  14. Just wanted to add another $0.02 to the two opinions expressed earlier: 1) Please add more separation between log entries. Way too crowded right now. 2) I'm saddened by the reduction in cache page description real-estate. Many people try to design their page to look a certain way, and now that the blockquotes are gone and the right hand margin has widened to allow space for the fancy link boxes, many cache pages look out of whack.
  15. Ok, most of the stuff looks good to me using XP SP2 and FF 1.5. Here are a couple of little things that need fixing though: 1) The Decrypt / Encrypt link works fine in both FF and IE, but in FF the link name never changes from Decrypt to Encrypt, it stays as Decrypt all the time 2) In all the profile tabs, it looks like there is an end tag missing from the code or something. IE seems to complete the bottom of the table, correctly showing the Note line and the bottom line: but the less forgiving FF 1.5 does not:
  16. Looks like this is becoming more and more of an issues as newer phones with newer browsers are hitting the market, and are not as yet supported by MS .NET I've recently acquired the Motorola E815, which is the next model year of the 710. I using through Bell Mobility in Canada and the phone has Openwave 6.2.3 (same version as the 710). Unless I can find a way to flash upgrade my phone, I'm in the "sucks to be me" pile when it comes to the WAP interface. I suspect this problem will become more prevalent as more people who got phones for Christmas start trying out WAP.
  17. I love to see the images on the splash page, but I'd like to see the feature enhanced if possible. Perhaps only for paying members? What would be nice, is if the images were randomly selected from caches within a certain radius of your home coordinates. Perhaps it could be an option to turn it on or off on your profiles page. It would be cool to see pictures of local cachers pop up more often.
  18. Bad choice of wording, but yes, I understand it is forbidden. Suffice it to say I won't be attempting it, and as AllenLacy points out, I won't even bother asking. They've made the Stat Bar accessible to everyone, so I'll post the question to them in the form of a new feature request. What I'm simply looking for is a way to display names & links to the last 2 or 3 caches I've found at my website. Sort-of of a "what have I been up to lately" kind of thing. Can't hurt to ask. Thanks for the responses.
  19. Hmm. Again, interesting. I assume you are refering to section 5, titled "Access and Interference". It does imply that "scrapes" are not permitted, unless express written premission has been provided. For all I know, it has (to the site I had refered to previously - link now deleted.). I guess if I want to do it, I'll hvae to contact GC.com myself. Thanks.
  20. A kind soul has e-mailed me the solution. It's not what I was expecting, but it's a start. Can we say, page scrapping boys and girls? Groan.
  21. Interesting. I know of a site that, aside from searching for co-ordinates, it shows me the ones I have found, in a different colour on the map. Clearly this is do-able.
  22. I'd like to write some simple Perl and / or PHP scripts to query the GC database, so that I can show my latest finds on my website. I could not find any posts regarding this, but I do see other sites using custom code to do similar things. Can someone point me in the right direction? TIA
  23. A local Ottawa cacher has created a new web forum for Ottawa cachers. http://digitalexposure.ca/forum/index.php You might want to cross-post there if you're still looking for people. Cheers.
