  1. We ordered one... hoping for a holiday treat!!
  2. I'm glad this coin made the trip down to you unscathed! And, as always, your pictures are spectacular Glenn... THANK YOU!!! All the best, -Glen from Team Petey.
  3. I completely agree with you Urubu - the "boo hoo" comment was completely inappropriate and bordered on mocking Yellow Ants. Acting as a moderator, I would expect some degree of professionalism from Jeremy. Even if you've had a bad day, a (successful) business still runs on professionalism and service - neither of which was shown by that post. Just my 2 cents... Happy caching to all, -Glen from Team Petey.
  4. We do too... we've left about 20 activated coins and given away/left 20 unactivated coins as well. We started that practice in May (leaving coins every time we go caching) - and it's been a TON of fun for us! And, the enjoyment we've received from tracking our coins - along with the wonderful notes and emails we've received from those who've found our unactivated's - it's been just great!! It seems to be a growing trend (more coins in caches again)... And we just love it!!
  5. Quite honestly pghlooking, what makes you think that loggerhead needs to or should "enlighten you"? If Groundspeak didn't feel it was worthy of being called a geocoin, they wouldn't have approved it as one. Groundspeak clearly felt it was worthy - so, why shouldn't we? No geocoin maker should have to justify ANYTHING about their coins to ANY posters in this forum. They only need justify the coin to themselves, their coin buyers, and to GC.com. Nobody else. And, just to be clear here - I'm not a buyer of these coins. They didn't "click" with me or what I look for in a coin. However, I don't feel Loggerhead needs to explain anything to me about why he/she designed the coin the way they did... Nor do they deserve to be verbally abused. That's what makes some of these posts "flames". Those that choose to overstep the line of expressing their thoughts on a coin and begin making personal attacks on the makers of that coin. Not all negative posts are flames... however, some have been. Personally, I think Loggerhead deserves better. Again, just my 2 cents. Peace to all - even the flamers. Happy caching to all...
  6. I've read this entire thread - top to bottom - and I find it amusing... no... amazing that just 2 months ago, when I announced the sale of my geocoin, my prices of 8.50 and 9.00 for my LE (plus the huge fee of 2.50 shipping) caused me to be flamed mercilessly by many of these same people. To sell a geocoin and *gasp* make a buck doing so, it seems you have to have a very thick skin to withstand the abuse some people heap on you... You've heard them all over and over again - to the point of being almost painful to read: The price is too high... The shipping is too much... The coin isn't geocaching related enough... I didn't like your last coin... The colors are all wrong... or the shape is all wrong... their geoname isn't there... or it IS there. And the all too common: "I pass". (Wow, that's clever). C'mon - this argument has been played out over and over again. Nobody ever "wins" it. The people with their negative opinions will state their points - and the people who defend the coin maker (profiteer) will state their points as well. What I did was to simply ignored the flamers... Believe it or not, I've received several emails from people who CRUSHED me in the forums wanting to trade with me for my coin (thinking I'd forgotten the verbal beating they put me through). Well, I haven't forgotton. And, I don't mean to speak for the Loggerheads, but, if I were them, I would rather look at all my new coins on a shelf than trade or sell to someone who bashed me or my coin publicly. (Not that any of you flamers would ever lower yourself to buy a coin someone actually might make a *profit* on!) Yes, flamers, you have the right to say what you want... but, so do we. Now take your arrogant, self righteous, "holier-than-thou" attitude and stuff it. Who made YOU the experts? Guess what... NOBODY DID. We're ALL experts in what we like or don't like. If someone LIKES the coin, they can buy it. If you DON'T like the coin, DON'T buy it. But, you DON'T need to berate the seller. There is such a thing as stating a decenting opinion nicely - it's called tact. Something that seems to be lacking in a few, chronic posters. What ever happened to "geocaching"? THAT'S the community. Okay, I said my piece. Flame on...
  7. Prime Suspect - your arrogance amazes me. Best of luck to you going forward... And, Markwell, I agree with you completely. I was simply making the point that cache pages can be fun and creative as well... you're 100% right. I'm checking out of this thread. I've said what I believe - and, once the sarcasm starts (prime suspect's post, 2 prior to this one), there's no reason to stay and get verbally "beat up". There's no excuse to go beyond civil and resort to snide, sarcastic and rude statements. All the best to everyone - and happy caching to all. -Glen from Team Petey. edit for content.
  8. You're second point is probably valid, and it's probably valid for non-members as well. So that leaves the cut-n-pasters. I've already seen more than my share of horribly botched-up cache pages, caused by people who don't even know what html stands for, copying in code that makes an entire cache page unreadable, or text effects bleeding into the hints and logs. The use of htmlTidy has put a stop to most of that. So you're thinking that just by being a paid member, someone suddenly becomes proficient in javascript? If not, I don't understand the rational behind allowing it for one group, and not another. I didn't mean to say that being a paid member would suddenly make one proficient in JS. (I don't think I even inferred that...) But, what I said was, it should only be available to paid members. This, in my opinion, would do 2 things: 1. It would offer another feature that GC.com could use to gain new, paying members. (Because, let's face it, GC doesn't run on love of geocaching alone). AND 2. It would limit the amount of JS in cache pages to those who are honestly TRYING to do interesting and fun things with their pages - not create black holes for the unwary to step into. And, therefore, it would be easier for the moderators of the site to monitor and remove the truly malicious stuff. Finally, I believe that a person's cache pages and profile page are their to do with as they see fit. You said (and I again quote), "I've already seen more than my share of horribly botched-up cache pages, caused by people who don't even know what html stands for, copying in code that makes an entire cache page unreadable, or text effects bleeding into the hints and logs." What might appear "botched-up" to you might be the result of someone's hard work - and they may well be proud of that. No, not everyone is proficient at JS nor HTML - but, we try... and, I think as paying members, it wouldn't be unreasonable to allow us to TRY to make our pages as fun and interesting as we can - even if you think we "botched" it up.
  9. Very well said Yellow Ants. Honestly, I've never run into malicious code on the pages. That's not to say it's not out there, but, I've just never been so unfortunate as to step into a pile of it. I said this earlier in the thread - and not to be redundant, but, wouldn't it make sense to make it a feature that only premium members could use? I think it would be a very rare occurance that someone would actually PAY GC.com to abuse the site. However, if someone DID abuse the site, GC would have that person's name and contact info (from the payment) and could then refuse to accept that person's money in the future - thereby not allowing them to ever enter malicious script again. Further, if someone has given GC.com their name and credit card info, it's going to be EVEN MORE UNLIKELY that they would abuse the site. (I would think most of these people try to be somewhat secretive in who they are...) Don'tcha think? Again, just my 2 cents... but, to me, my 2 cents makes some sense... Thanks for listening and for your consideration! -Glen from Team Petey.
  10. WOW!! What a COOL picture!!! Thank you so much for sharing it! I'm looking at the ACTUAL bridge I designed the coin around as I type this - and, as I look back at your picture, there's an interesting similarity! Bottom line: I LOVE the picture. Thanks!! And, I'm glad you enjoyed the coin!! Keep the emails coming! Orders are still gladly being accepted!
  11. I wrote the whole thing up in post number 9 of this thread... but, basically, just for fun. (If you really care, read the whole thread)
  12. All new orders have been invoiced - and, as ALWAYS, THANK YOU EVERYBODY!! Keep the emails comin'...
  13. I'm sorry alexrudd, I don't understand. How can I still track the people who hit my profile page without my javascript running? If there's a way, I would love to do it! I just don't know enough about programming to make it happen... If it can be done, please help!
  14. Sad, but true... the .1% ruin it for the rest of us...
  15. This isn't Minority Report. I can't prejudge users and know whether they are malicious or not. I completely understand what you're saying Jeremy, and I agree - I would never want anyone to prejudge anyone else on this site or any other. What I meant was: when someone is actually found to be using javascript with malicious intent, those would be the people to have their page removed, and, their IP would be banned from the site. I'm sorry if I hadn't made myself clear in that... "Prejudge" is the originating word for "Prejudice" and, I would agree, that cannot be tolerated. Good point Jeremy... But, if someone is using the site for purposes for which it wasn't intended, GC.com should have every right to ban someone from the site. Happy Caching to All, -Glen from Team Petey.
  16. Wouldn't it, however, be possible to disable the "bad apples" and ban their IP addresses from the site rather than exclude ALL of us from using it? For example, I was using a simple "counter" to be able to see who and when people were hitting my profile - just for the fun of it. And it was just that - fun! There was no malicious intent there what-so-ever. And, for those who use it for more interesting puzzle caches, it should, in my opinion, be available for their use as well... Or, just make it available to premium members... (okay, okay, please no flurry of emails saying that $30 is too much $) Anyway, these are just my thoughts... I am, by NO means, a programmer and I really don't know all the nasty things that people can do with javascript. But, one would have to believe that it could be used in some safe way without banning it from everyone. Happy caching to all! -Glen from Team Petey.
  17. Glenn, The pictures you took of my coins are UNBELIEVABLE! Thank you SO much for taking the time and putting forth the effort - your camera, lighting, and talent are truly amazing!! -Glen from Team Petey.
  18. All new orders have been shipped and you should receive your coins within the next day or so (aside from the orders in Europe - You'll receive yours within the next week or so). If anyone else is interested, please see my post just above this one... There are still more to go around! Thanks everybody!!!

  21. I'm not sure if the voting is officially open on this one or not, but I would vote for "A". I love the simplicity of it.
  22. Is this even a geocoin discussion or thread for that matter? I guess, if it is, we're not "in the group".
  23. Fox and The Hound designed our coin's icon - and he did a GREAT job with a difficult concept. Our avatar is the icon.
  24. Where is information posted about the Jeep contest? I can't seem to find it anywhere... Or, is it already completed and my search is in vain? Anyone? Bueler... Bueler... Bueler...
