  1. I just bought a 60CS from GPSExplorer.com for $429 with a $50 Rebate. I think the 60C was about $20 less.
  2. Thanks for the post! I just got a Garmin 60CS last week and put a PDA screen protector on it. Took me a hour to get it cut right and installed, still doesn't look perfect. Wished I had known about this before forking out $15 on PDA protectors at Staples.
  3. Thanks! I've got City Select in the mail right now. I just didn't know the GPS could talk to a PC like that and display your position in Streets. Guess I'm on the lookout for this serial cable now.
  4. I just got a Garmin GPSMap 60CS and I didn't see anything in the manual that referenced connecting it to a laptop to get information. Is this done with the included USB cable? Just need a current copy of Microsoft Streets?
  5. Ordered a 60CS from GPSExplorer.com yesterday. It is already in the mail and will be delivered tomorrow. Free UPS Ground.
  6. Nineteen years active duty with the US Army. I'm a 33W, electronics tech., stationed at Fort Huachuca in Southern Arizona. Planning on retiring late next year.
  7. Mine was defaulted off when I made maps the first time. Make sure there is a checkmark under the T.
  8. It has nothing to do with what is on the post or what can be seen. Highten levels of security since 9/11 have put the MPs and civilian guards on alert to people standing near the fence lines. They are not going to run you down but you do stand a good chance of being talked to. That being said, the majority of the installations in the US are open to the public. Just stop at the gate (have your license, insurance, and vehicle registration) get a vehicle pass. Several parks and nature trails on Fort Huachuca. Even a cache in Garden Canyon if you are coming down this way. Oh, be prepared for people to be looking under your hood, trunk, under the car, in the car and maybe a dog if you hit the gate at the wrong time.
  9. I've not had this problem and only had it lock up once so far while downloading to it. That was my own fault for not turning it off before pulling the cable. Works like a gem. Think you just got a bad one.
  10. Same thing here. I just became a premium member last week and haven't received a query yet. Would be nice if you could select multiple caches with the check marks click download and get them in GPX format.
  11. I'm at 5100 feet. Fort Huachuca, Arizona. My house is about 5120 feet according to the topo map. Thanks for the code! I'll give it a try as soon as I get home. Also, I used weather.com and put in my zip.
  12. I got an Explorist 600 last week and wondering if anyone else has this problem. The altimeter reads currently 25.28 inHg. Current altimter is 30.03. This has never worked right. Second unit with the same problem so I'm assuming it is not isolated but doing a search, I can't find anyone else that has posted the problem. Is there a fix or just ignore? Also read something about hidden menus. How do you get to them and what type of information is there? Thanks!
