  1. Ok so it does not compare to what others of you have found but this guy was guarding our cache. Found at View of casco bayView of Casco Bay The other link is not working so visit the photo gallery photo called little visitor
  2. Ok I left a brand new box of thermometers. I had included a joke about how cold one gets while geocaching in Maine winters. They were some of the first things taken. There were about 10 of them in the box. They were the old fashioned mercury kind. I had no clue what to do with them so I thought it was funny to toss them in. Well I was going to go back later and recycle them but they had all been taken within the first two weeks. I looked at the box later and discovered they were all rectal thermometers. Well they were all brand new so what anyone on these geocachers wanted to do with them is none of my business. After my uncle passed away he had a brand new box of them in his condo. Well he did work in a hospital for 33 years. Sadly he passed away 30 days before he was due to retire.
  3. I see so many different abbreviations in logbooks. Is there a place I can look them all up? Some are quite obvious but others are not. We just placed our first cache and have no idea what some of the terms mean. With winter coming in our area some members are complaining about being visible from the walking path. Naturally in the spring and summer the vegetation is denser and is a great hiding spot. This is the only complaint we have seen so far. I am curious to see if some of these abbreviations are things we need to correct. Carousel Cheesecakes
  4. I guess he just wanted to leave a DNA sample.
  5. We have friends who just went to France from Maine and picked up many Travel bugs and are releasing them here in this country. Imagine suddenly finding your bug has moved thousands of miles in just a couple of weeks.
  6. We found our second ever cache and found a travel bug. We found Slither Snake. Slither has a note attached asking to go someplace warm. It took us a while to figure out what to do with it but we took a pic of our cat with it and posted everything online. It turns out many have been looking for this one at Pineland in Maine. We found it at another cache about 5 miles away. It apears according to the logbook that the party who took it from Pineland had kept it for months with the intent of taking it further south and when they could not they put it in another cache locally. We are heading south about 50 miles and will Slither well on his way. So yes bugs can be found when unexpected. i can say this little guy has just strenghtened our resolve to keep this up. BTW we are ordering some bugs of our won.
