  1. Congrats! I remember doing those BillP3rd caches. Very educational and challenging.
  2. I've had chances to get the elusive Moun10bike coins in my geocaches, but I've declined since I think it's bad form to raid your own cache. Only time I raided my own cache was to take some travel bugs down south several hundred miles. Also, I don't believe in going back to caches that I've found. I've been tempted...yep! Remember one time I did a cache the day before and only to have Moun10bike plant one of his coins the next day. Version 2 which I've not got my hands on yet...via finding it in a cache anyway. I've seen them in collections but I don't collect coins that way as I don't see the point since it's virtual in those cases.
  3. Congrats to Plaidguy!!!! man that old cache is still around? Did that one back in '02
  4. Sounds like a good movie. I'll have to check it out. I like horror films, though my favorites are more on the evil spirit side of things rather than slasher. But yeah, one always needs to be on the alert out there in the great outdoors, but don' t let it keep you from enjoying life. Carry the 10 essentials, maybe a cell phone, and definitely let someone know where you are going. I know alot of us, including me, are comfortable solo hiking, but I do realize the risk I'm taking by doing that. Going with a buddy or a small group is safer.
  5. Hmmm...this one looks interesting. Not sure if I can make it this Sat though, but this looks like a good one for me to take Inmywoods out snowshoeing. And this Sunday is the Super Bowl!!!! Go Hawks!!!
  6. Wow. Didn't realize the extent of mines up there. Interesting stuff mentioned. I'd never guessed an old mine shaft woudl be covered by an old stump. How'd did this coal seam fire happen? Anybody say?
  7. Scary one! Good reminder we all need to look first before sticking hands in crevices, holes, etc
  8. Rey Del Roble has series of caches with the theme Things that Bite. Very fun! One hide was similar to the realistic rat example mentioned earlier.
  9. Moun10bike geocoins if talkling FTF prizes. However, I once found a 15$ gift card for REI. Very cool! Oh yeah, in another cache, that I was FTF to, a nice portable radio was one of the swags. Took it. But those legendary MTB coins are the best, especially via a good hard hike to box. My girlfriend, Inmywoods, finally got her first FTF the other day and the prize was a Flying Eagles one troy ounce sterling silver coin. Very cool!
  10. I saw a lot of wildlife on my journey to #2500 in the high Goat Rocks near Mt. Adams, but the most unusual was just before setting camp at midnight. I'd been hiking since 8 pm and had just crossed a dry gully and saw movement at corner of my eye. Holy Smoke! It's a porcupine just an inch from me...next to my right leg. I stepped back and watched the critter wander slowly away. Too bad my digital camera was buried deep in the pack. Never seen one alive before.
  11. Yes, it exists. I had been hoping to join a bigfoot search crew with an old friend who knew the president of the local bigfoot research club. He'd gone couple other times with that guy in the Indian Heaven Lakes area. They've seen tracks and supposedly heard it. Now his brother, two years ago, was driving home the backway up the Klickitat towards Snowden which is somewhat to southeast of Trout Lake, Washington. Anyhow, all of a sudden this huge, greyish thing steps out in middle of the logging road. Tay said it appeared to be 8-9 ft tall and it was hairy all over and it's face was flattish. It looked at Tay in his truck for a second and then continued on. Tay contacted his brother and they got ahold of the bigfoot guy and went back to look for sign, but the groudn was too hard for tracking. Another old family friend spotted bigfoot in the 70s and I've heard accounts from couple others.
  12. At least he didn't turdle the turtle!! C'mon, u were all thinking it! That cracks me up! LOL
  13. like the idea. As long as you rate it CAtegory 5 on terrain...no problem with it. Somebody will have fun figuring out how to get it.
  14. My best is 61 with Moun10Bike in the Yakima cache machine. But usually when I've gone solo caching or with with a buddy, I'll consider anything over 10 a good day. I managed to get something like 25 on my own one time in Bremerton after a full day of caching. 15-20 on a run would be considered my normal high count for a concentrated day of caching. I know if I were to go down to California or go to Wenatchee, I might really crank out the numbers, but really I'm more interested in going somewhat slower pace and having fun. My favorite caching days are the ones that are hikes. Maybe 2-3 on those days if lucky.
  15. I have ran across a hobo camps caching a few times, always feel strangely like I am trespassing or something. Caches near these locations never seem to survive too long for some reason either. Yeah there was a cache in Tacoma that was really creepy. The hide was within sight of a homeless person's log fort. This park was woodsy and paralleled the freeway. Think it's archived now, but I was on full alert as I hunted for the ammo box. Glad when the hunt was over.
  16. IT's fine. You don't have to pay if you don't want to. It's just a suggestion. I probably wouldn't plant the cache if a fee is required. The exception is the national forests and their parking fee program. I find it very reasonable at 30 bucks for an annual pass.
  17. For hiking caches, I'll use my trusty old Mountainsmith Bugaboo daypack. Excellent pack...it can even be a one nighter if need be. Always carry the 10 Essentials and then some.
  18. congrats to BL on his 2 K career find...walden run style to boot! Also congrats to FunnyNose. Inmywoods got her first ever FTF today!!!! Boy, it looks like we just missed some other cachers: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...59-ed262cb780f5
  19. Excellent pic of Chloe there!
  20. Rey Del Roble just hit his 1000th Find. Congrats!!!
  21. Here's an idea for someone. How about using a casket as a cache...would be a great one to release around Halloween or so.
