  1. I think this is seriously cool and very wonderful. Owls are fantastic birds. I've never been lucky enough to see a barn owl in real life, although I have been lucky enough to see a little owl in the wilds. Yesterday, when out walking near one of our caches, I saw 17 magpies. I wonder if there is any signifigance in this? I run out after '10's the one you shouldn't miss!' I regularly see 3 parakeets at a time on the common (hence one of our caches). Thanks for sahring this with us.
  2. I have cogitated (even though there wasn't much traffic today!) Sadly I'm out soon for the evening, so the blog entry will have to wait. Suffice to say it has nothing to do with EBEs or cloning!
  3. Them squirrels can be vicious! At 1st, I thought the sheep in the photo had been long dead and rotted away. Then you read on about the wool and you start thinking! I'll cogitate over this during my usual sit in traffic tomorrow am. I feel a blog entry coming on!
  4. The Legend eTrex will tell you your current altitude. Not quite an altimeter, but you'll probably never use it! As has already been said, you can't go wrong with Garmin!
  5. can I suggest a soothing walk in the country, perhaps stopping off to admire some tupperware, to help calm you down?
  6. I feel another pair of rubber gloves coming on!
  7. I think double congratulations!! Not only did Roxy get first place, but they even took the time to move our TB around Crufts and take his photo with the other Westies being judged Above and beyond the call of duty. Keep up the good work and next year, Roxy for show champion!!
  8. that's a long shift Hope you're on at least time and a half!
  9. Our ambitions are quite lowly! A FTF would be nice, a FTF before Andy33 would be tops. Failing that, to keep on cachin' would be perfect!!
  10. I could suggest some just outside of London, in the lovely Surrey countryside, unless that's too far?
  11. Maybe you could buy the 'site' and then plant micro caches instead of build houses and regulars instead of hotels? Begs the question of which is the 'most desirable' area to cache in? (Oh no! Another can of worms!! ) Probably depends on personal preference.
  12. It's still going? I'm utterly astounded, nay, flumoxed! I'm off to do some caching to calm my nerves!
  13. I think you'll have to subscribe to a premium service for that. And for existing GPSr devices, it could be that the precision of the device will limit the overall performance (cf the improved results people are getting with the new generation chips in the Garmin 60csx). Quite why you would want single centimetre accuracy is another matter! Surveying? Um, that's probably about it!
  14. Whoa! This is going a bit far! Geocaching = fun, remeber?
  15. Have you done the upgrade available from the Garmin site? The freezing was a glitch which they have now created a patch for. I did the upgrade about a fortnight after getting mine and haven't had this problem since. I hadn't, but I've just loaded it now. Took less than 5 mins, including downloading the software from Garmin. In fact, looking for the CD-ROM took me longer - until I realised it didn't come with one!! Hopefully that'll have cured it and I'll be running free!! Thanks for the advice Andys101 & Redfrock
  16. Had a disaster yesterday as one of our caches was discovered missing! Could only think that it had been muggled as it is in an exposed spot. However, today I got an e-mail from some muggles to say that they had found it approx 1/4 mile away, safe and sound albeit wet! They left it beside a path so I nipped out to bring it home. It's drying out and will be re-instated soon. Faith in humanity restored! On top of that, our travel bug has been at crufts! We were watching it the other night, with our Westie, little knowing that the TB was there as well. Any some fantastic photos to boot!
  17. Cos you might have left your keys in the car or the remote for your garage door. Seems daft, but people do and it happened to someone we know!
  18. Thermal Reflective windscreens interfere with the GPS signal, that's probably what you're experiencing with your Renault. The i3 is very good. I've had one for about 5 months now and use it everyday for work (I got out visiting people at home). It's safer than trying to read a map on that's on the passenger seat, whilst driving! It only has a couple of minor glitches: - i) You can't search for an address with characters other than numbers (i.e. 2a, The Street). Not much of a problem in that instance as you'd just put 2 in and hope 2a is near. Not so good when you're looking for 'Rambling Mansions, The Street'. Just have to drive to the road and search for it manually. I accept, this isn't much of a problem unless you need to find a specific house. ii) My has a tendency to freeze up every once in a while. It just requires the power cord and batteries taking out and re-starting. Bit annoying when you're in the fast lane of the M3 though! Other than that, for £120 you can't go wrong. You could pay more for another model, but it the i3 does what it needs to.
  19. It also contains a lot of web addresses for useful links. I'm not ashamed to say that I've got a copy as well.
  20. Shiny! I get it know. Thanks for your responses.
  21. I'm really confused about Geocoins! Are they the 'new' TB's, to be sent off into the wilds with a quest or just to move around? If you find one in a cache are you allowed to keep it or do you have to move it on? Or are they like Disney pins - the joy is in the collecting and trading of them? Swap them with other collectors or trade them up if you find them? I've probably missed something, somewhere so please excuse my ignorance! I just want to know the right thing to do if I ever come across one. I've looked at the Geocoins thread, but it doesn't make it much clearer (or I'm just dense! and I've had a hard day.) Thank you for your patience and understanding!
  22. Great typo!!! looks like finance at first glance Don't tell! All 3 of them are teachers! I'll never live it 'dwon'!!
