  1. I think that there's a larger group of cachers in Laramie, which isn't all that far from Gillette. You might do some checking and see if they are interested in coming up to your meeting. I will keep an eye out for a posting or get together in WY and try and make it up there. I had a lot of fun in the Guernsey Lake area with caches.
  2. I guess when I placed Riverview Cache, I did this after finding Reflections #3. I believe #3 is a magnetic key holder, placed on the west side of the bridge railing, going over the same river that goes under Riverview Cache. I remember this because when I went out to find it, I was looking west of the bridge and didn't find it. I then looked up and saw it attached to the bridge railing. When I was contacted by the reviewer reference Riverview Cache, I was kind of surprised since there was one down river about 12 miles, basically just like mine. The only difference is that mine is on a 4 lane highway and #3 is on a narrow, 2 lane bridge. Granted, #3 I guess wouldn't be on a "highway bridge" defined by Nebraska Department of Roads, and mine would. But then again, neither bridge has been deemed a "potential or a possible targets for terrorist attacks" I guess if we are trying to say that caches shouldn't be placed on bridges "period", then we need to remove "potential or a possible targets for terrorist attacks" from the guidelines. Bottom line is, we need to figure if "potential or a possible targets for terrorist attacks" really needs to be in there or not. I am not aware of many places that have been officially deemed possible targets for terrorist attacks. Not even sure where to start looking to see if the site has been or not. Just a thought. Hopfully something can come of this thread and if changes need to happen, the changes will. Below is a post of Reflections #3. It doesn't show that the cache is located on a road, but it is. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...12-d21ab73d3160
  3. WELL, WELL, WELL. It appears that I am a local celebrity with my Riverview Cache. After reading all the posts, I figured I'd better throw a few bones out there myself. 1st. With me placing this cache, I never used my LEO status to get this cache approved. In fact, I don't even think the reviewer knew I was an officer. 2nd. I read the guidelines prior to placing this cache. I read the following: "Caches near or under public structures deemed potential or possible targets for terrorist attacks. These include but are not limited to highway bridges, dams, government buildings, elementary and secondary schools, and airports." I guess the way I read #2 was that "structures deemed potential or a possible targets for terrorist attacks" were not to have caches near or under them. The reviewer approved this cache. Then the reviewer was contacted by someone, reference the cache and its violation of the above 2nd. I told the reviewer that I would take pictures of it and he could make the decision as to whether it would stay or go. I also told the reviewer that as far as I knew, the bridge was not deemed potential or possible target for terrorist attacks. Sounds kind of unlikely that Osama bin Laden would blow up a bridge in Western Nebraska, but I guess stranger things have happened. So, I won't blow as much smoke as some have, but there are other caches that should be looked at as well. But that isn't my job to pick on other caches or to make sure they are placed in the right spot. My job is to have a good time looking for these and to walk the 1.5 miles up hill to find them. Ie. One near Guernsey Lake, WY. I have spoken with some LEO's in the area and told them about the cache. Hopefully SBPD won't blow up a $2.5 million dollar bridge. I will be sending out an email to all area law enforcement agencies, so they all know about this cache. That way my buddy with Keller Construction won't have to go and rebuild it. In ending, I urge everyone one to go and find Riverview Cache before it gets archived , and to get it from below and not above. Thanks. LEO, formerly known as homicide133
  4. I got a Dell Axim for my paperless caching. I am currently using the cachemate software. When I download the pocket query from www.geocaching.com, everything shows up just as you see it on the web site. Perfect. I haven't used a sheet of paper since I got the Axim. I had a bit of a problem getting it to work at first, but after finding out exactly how to do it, NO PROBLEMS! The Dell is well worth the money. It also allows you to connect to the internet, via wireless. Nice too.
  5. I installed cachemate. I imported some caches and it shows the type at "O". It should show a multi and a traditional icon instead. The terrain also shows a 1 instead of being a 2 or a 3. Any ideas why?
  6. 1st. I am using the Dell Axim X51 for paperless caching. I am using the GpxSonar software on the X51 and GSAK on my desktop. When I download GPX files and then transfer them to the X51, some of the information doesn't show up as being right. Most of the caches show up on the X51 as "type ?" instead of a traditional cache. Also the Terrain and Difficulty show up as being "1's" instead of 1.5 or even 4's. Anyone have an idea why? Thanks. 2nd. Is there a better program to use instead of GSAK or GpxSonar?
