  1. I just bought one for USB that works great on my Legend. Got it off EB__ for about $15 shipped. That was the cheapest I have found one. They have one with the old serial port connection as well for similar price.
  2. Finally got mine updated. Personal laptop and desktop do not have serial ports to use. Work laptop and desktop do have serial ports but data security folks have the com ports locked down. Finall got son's desktop and drug it downstairs to hook up to internet. Download then went very fast and easy. Looking forward to getting back out and hunting caches again. Question: Has anyone ever tried using a serial to USB adapter cable? If so, did you encounter any issues? Think of going this direction as it is cheaper alternative than buying new Garmin specific cable. Thanks, david
  3. Looks like we are all having the same issue at the same time. Unit worked perfectly two weeks ago as family was on a short vacation and picked up about 8 or so caches. Little kids and I were headed out for some hiking and geocaching and the exact same thing happened. Installed three new sets of batteries and same issue. Will go on line and acquire the new version. I did go out just now and unit stayed up for a good while that was encouraging. Bad thing is I do not have a USB cord only a serial and not of the compters here have a serial connection so will have to wait and do it from work on Monday. So glad we have the forum to look to for advice!!
  4. I want to go ahead and purchase this for the stated $125. I will email you my shipping address and you can provide the information for paypal. Thanks for the pictures. David

  6. About a year ago I was thinking of investing in a Garmin Legend C for our boy scout trips and some Geocaching. Got involved with other things and just now getting back to looking for a good price on the Legend C. I have learned that this model has been discounted, but here are still new units for sale on Ebay and other websites. Anyone know why Garmin discountinued this model? Anyone have this model and can provide feedback on how good or bad it is. From the reviews I read last year it appeared to be a good unit at a reasonable price. Trying to keep the cost as low as possible for a good quality unit with color screen, decent memory for downloading maps etc. Any suggestions for alternative model would be appreciated. Unfortunately I have a limited budget and need to stay under $200, $150 is preferrable.
