  6. GeekBoy. How do I create a KML file in Google Maps and then get a route PQ of that map?
  7. I have all but given up trying to make a good route in Google Earth. They never seem to come out right. What we really need is the ability to create a route in Google Maps where we can make the route go the direction we want and then create a KML file. This would be a great improvement to the Geocaching Website. Snoope

  9. Yes, I believe the GPS elevation is not real accurate. If you get the pressure information from your local airport over the Internet , I found out that it is not updated very often. If you have a scanner and you can receive the transmitted over the air information it is updated very frequently so the pilots can set their altimeter. If you are some distance from the airport and you set your GPS elevation with that info it will not be correct because your location elevation will be different from the airport. I think the best way is to find a benchmark desk. Also, remember to make sure the units in the GPS are set to inches or millibars, which ever is necessary in your area. Snoope
  10. I forgot on my previous posting to say that after I got my readings at the airport benchmark, I quickly drove home which is about 3 blocks away, took a reading of the elevation in my driveway and then I set the altimeter to my driveway reading before I go cachng.
  11. If you go to a previous posting by me about this subject this is what I do and it works out very well. Post #6 Snoope. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry2755608
  12. Got my copy from Amazon.com for $109.00 two weeks ago with free shipping. Took about a week to receive.
  13. These are my thoughts about the barometric altimeter. Carefully read pg.61 I went to my nearby airport, they have a national weather service automated weather station there. It automatically transmits the info on 134.0MHZ. I listen on a scanner, they update the pressure about every minute. On the Internet it is updated about once an hour. They also have a surveyers elevation disk near by. I have used both methods and they are very close, but if you answer no to the elevation and pressure questions on the barometric setup page, then it will give a default GPS reading, which I found to be about 30ft. different. As you know GPS elevation is not very accurate. Snoope
