  1. I hope map beta becomes the default though. It is a million times better on the eye, I love that I can use OSM, and yeah, it's just mighty fine
  2. So just out of curiosity, will maps beta still be maps beta in a few hours?
  3. i'm planning to head there soon.. maybe i should prepare a story? 'Recently there has been a report released that a drastic increase in the slug population has occurred, therefore any previously collected statistics are now void and a new census is required urgently to update the official slug to human ratio' does that sound official enough?
  4. I have just 'acquired' 4 fairly good condition ammo cans. Even though the seals are in great condition, and no rust on the cans. I was wondering if I should chuck a few sillica packs in to deal with the slight amount of water that may enter from cachers hands etc in the wet? Yay? Nay?
  5. There's a cache near to me that is in desperate need of attention The Water Tower, i have tried contacting the owner by they haven't been active since December.. The cache itself is soggy and the old log book is mush. I have put a temporary log sheet inside in a airtight bag, but something really needs to be done about this one as it's such a good location for a decent cache.. What is there that one can do??
  6. I fully understand that it obviously takes time to solve, however the feedback came directly from cachers (some very experienced) as constructive advice and was wondering if i should act on it.. Maybe i should look to create a new puzzle altogether then?
  7. that is also another option. but i wanted to make the one i have now more attractive, i put a lot of work into it and it seems a shame people don't really want to do it just because there is no real reward..
  8. I recently had one of mine moved by a muggle. it was hidden in a old log by a stream, got a message from someone out caching who had found the cache just sat in the middle of the path and the giant log gone?!?! But the cache was intact so i just relocated it nearby in a safer location.
  9. I own a cache called 'Danebury Puzzles' in my local area, and have received feedback from other cachers that i should have a larger & more appealing final cache. So i have recently got my hands on a decent sized ammo can, which i plan to paint yellow and 'decorate' to look like a secret hoard. My issue comes with the placement, as the puzzle lies at the moment i couldn't simply just swap the final stage. (I just would be too obvious & i only have permission to place the small containers as they currently are on the site.) It took a lot of effort to be able to place the stages as is, and the chances of getting permission to place a larger ammo can and finding a suitable place are very slim. As the current puzzle stands it has only been found twice (because of a mixture of he difficulty and the lack of appeal), would the best option be to edit the cache completely but as the same listing (informing the current finders and posting a note making it unavailable whilst being changed), or is the best option to archive the listing and start from scratch?
  10. Only after the first person trying to steal it Probably some legal implications to using landmines. Wouldn't you have to up the terrain rating to a 5 star?
  11. maybe i should make it next to impossible to find, then only the rare few will be in a chance of taking it?
  12. no matter what sport/activity you do there is always going to be someone out to ruin it. and when they want to ruin it they will find a way, nothing will stop them.. but until i find a way to stop them, my new handcrafted 'log' cache is staying in the garage..
  13. i spent most of yesterday creating 2 cache containers out of logs which you could hardly tell they are caches, even stood right above them you could hardly tell. so what i want to know is how could i stop a jealous cacher or someone out to cause trouble taking these caches?
  14. thanks . i have spent some time looking around but i currently have a excel sheet full of about 100 grid refs, and am going to have to go through and do them one by one by the looks of things ..
  15. is there an equation for converting grid references to WGS84??
  16. i was hoping to be able to do it pre-GPSr, so i can look at my route online etc.
  17. i am looking for a good & easy way to convert a set of grid references to lat/long to use for geocaching. i have tried a few methods but they always seem to put me way off where i want to be.
  18. Well I depends, because it's not going to be as simple as it seems it's hard to say..
  19. Okay, thanks. So what's the etiquette to changing/altering caches by much?
  20. I have been using my iPhone to view the forums a lot, and yesterday I accidentally pressed the 'use full site' button and now I don't get the mobile site. Is there anyway to revert back to using it?
  21. And on a related note, would it be more appealing if the end goal was more than just a micro? Maybe a treasure chest??
