  1. not in the same line but a couple of niggles with this unit. not being able to edit the coords on a puzzle cache. not being able to search for a cache by name. seems to take too many keystrokes to get to the place needed to do something not having consistent menu options. like when on the page looking for a cache and touching the center of the screen and the lower right corner one does not always get the menu about the cache page. kinda hard to explain that but there is a menu that is about the cache -- like details, found, hints, description -- and a page that gives a menu about the something else. will have to look next time but is is not the one about the cache. it is the little thing that make a unit usable and magellan appears to not have it right. this is the forth unit i have used and although it has lots of features it is still the least usble. or most difficult-- not user friendly-- too many buttons to push, and then not get what is needed. very poor support from magellan. although the guy (seems to be the same one every time)can answer some questions he very often wants to refer the question to someone else and that seems to be when the support dies. never hear from magellan, not even a response that they got the question. nothing. from using magellans products it appears that they are not real cachers just someone trying to sell a product. off soapbox now.
  2. as you are approaching the cache the 710 is indicating position but as you get within about 20 feet it stops responding. and if you walk on past at 20 to 50 feet it will begin responding again. sometimes you must go further. if you stop and wait for 30 sec to 60 sec and turn around and walk back toward the cache again it will sometimes work and more often then not the distance to cache and the arrow will stop responding again. i saw this same type of response on a explorist gc also. my caching buddy has a garmin 60csx and walking beside him, his will track right down to the cache if this is the only behavior i can expect from this unit then i will sale it.
  3. yes it is and so is the gc model. both do the same thing
  4. wonder if it is possible to write a macro that will extract the necessary info and form a file that can be loaded into the gps. it is apparent where the found file is in the gps. probably not enough interest in writing a macro. or are there enough 710 around for that. don't the 510 and 610 use the same operating system?
  5. when i get close to a cache the 710 seems to stop responding. any thoughts on this. is it just my unit.. although i have seen the same response in the gc model.
  6. is there a way to get the found file from geocaching into the 710 so i don't have to go thru all the previous finds and mark them? dave
