  1. Oh - and even though I did not make it explicit - I did intend to share this with the community. Just right-click and "Save as." You are welcome to add to your own profile, post on you Facebook page, and upload to any geocaching groups you are part of. Well done Hey AKF here it is Thank you - got it HF!!!
  2. Tried this - but it only shows me, for example the first 20. But if I type 7a I get a whole NEW list of 20 - hmmmm that would take me FOR-EVER! I'll keep trying though.
  3. THANK YOU everyone for some great ideas - I was doing the GSAK thingy but it meant running random PQs --- I like the find another user idea and thanks for the specific areas to hunt (LA, Colo, AZ etc)
  4. HEH HEH _ LOVE IT - my son lives in Phoenix - just might do that! Although I wish it were not summer now...
  5. I logged a few more of my caches from last week - if I failed to use the calendar but, rather, typed in the date then they were posted with today's date - if I used the calendar to CLICK the date from last month THEN they stuck with the actual log date. Super frustrating. Hope it will be worked out in the end.
  6. I want to find caches that have been placed by Cache Owner whose name starts with a 7 or a 9 as part of the alphanumeric cache OWNER challenge. There are none in my local query area but I'd like to see if I can find those caches on a larger scale area so as I plan future road trips accordingly... ANy idea how to do this when I don't KNOW the cache owner names across the country that might start with a 7 or a 9.... Thanks in advance.
  7. Hmmm, I couldn't view this new cache page design in Safari. Not even in Chrome. Then, when switching to Geico, err Firefox, I do see it. Ramdom selection, by user? By bowser? Anyways, nice addition! Very 'informative'! I like it! Just one request: I would love to 'jump' to the specific log when clicking on the large icon image. Thanks! ~ Dr.MORO I haven't seen the new page design, and I use Firefox. I just assumed I wasn't one of the randomly selected testers. SORRY for the confusion - I still have "remove from my watchlist" on my main cache page - top right in the box with Log your visit, view gallery, remove from watchlist, ignore listing, bookmark listing...,
  8. At the top - says "Stop watching" Still, I don't see this "Stop watching"... Where Right/Left to, Above/Below? Mine is at the very top of the forum page I am on - there is a blue circle icon and the words Stop Watching....I can't add the screen shot I took but if you email me akiteflier at gmail dot com I can send it to you.
  9. You never have to have more than ONE edit for any log. Any log that has been edited will be identified as such. BUT, if you have to make a second or even a third edit, delete all the previously generated edit text at the bottom of your log before you re-submit. A brand new time/date stamped edit notice will be added again, but it will then be the only edit showing with the log. The most recent one only. Oh I never even thought of that for removing prior edits - makes sense to me although I rarely edit more than once - THANKS! The big issue here is the way that log dates are not reflecting what I actually entered - they are ONLY reflecting yesterday's date in spite of the fact that I hand entered each date on each log (that was a royal pain to have to manually enter a past date on every log - I mean who logs on the day you find them when you are on a road trip??? I don't usually have internet access or time to do that.)
  10. ARGH - I logged the rest of my California trip last night - using the horrible calendar feature - (I don't care for that feature at all) I had to change the date on every single log (the date used to "stick" with the date I started with and I could log all from that same date without having to change the date EVERY single time.) SO I did all that - only this morning I looked at my logs and they ALL have yesterday's dates on them - I tried to edit one and it did not work - it still shows my log as yesterday along with two edits now. ARGHHHHHH help!
  11. Check the new log on: GCB6 Yellow River Stash [/quote/ check it out here. http://coord.info/GCB6 Ooohhh boy - that's going to cause some interessssting conversations I'm sure - thanks for the heads up humboldt!
  12. Perhaps the coords will lead us to the Bermuda Triangle? :-) Keep us updated - will be interesting to see what the location is.
  13. I think there are plenty of cases where cachers just don't know they SHOULD use need maintenance logs. A lot of our newbies don't know what they are for and when to use them so they don't for fear of doing the wrong thing. I rarely post a NM for a wet log unless it's virtually disintegrated - cause they often dry back up again but I do post for full logs or containers that need help.
  14. I think there are two things here - 1.people who share one geocaching account (a couple for example) and log everything to that one account - in that case you just create the account name you want to use and both of you log into that same GC account OR 2. when out with a group it's sometimes easier to write down a "team name" on the log - for example I've cached as team ADD, team STNY, team AMP from IL and team BACON - these are often just acronyms based on members of the group but each of us logs our finds on our individual GC accounts. SO I log all my finds as AKiteFlier and mention in my GC log that I signed in as PART of team XYZ (so if anyone checks the logs they will see the team name) Hope that clarifies? ~Kite
  15. Allowed to? Yes. Should you? That's another question. Yes. If you have to. But DON'T claim First To Find. As a PM you have an Ignore list, so that the cache wont show on your unfound list. It is the "should you" part that I question most - typically if I am involved in the actual PLACEMENT of a cache I do not log it BUT if I was merely a contributor of swag for a tribute or puzzle cache then I might - but I wanted to see people's opinions :-)
  16. Related *(I think) question - Groundspeak does not allow two cachers to both be the "owner" of a cache even though we often place "team" caches out here in IL. SO - if you are part of the TEAM but not the official Geocaching OWNER - are you allowed to log the cache as a find? I personally wish we could have two legitimate hiders on caches. We both do the work and the maintenance... Just curious about people's thoughts on this... Thanks
  17. Have done the ET 1500 and recently finished the last 500 - took 4.5 days of drive time with a team to do the drive only part for the 2000 - so your proposal might be enticing for someone who is, perhaps, retired and has unlimited time. Hiking up some of the mountain passes could really require a hardy soul! AND that's just the ET hwy part. The geo arts already require walking. I did enjoy a break from power trail driving to throw in a mere 50 or so to hike to but not sure I'd ever be hardy enough to WALK the entire (almost) 200+ miles of just the ET highway, let alone another 80 or so miles of the Yermo trail. I'll be curious to see responses to this thread!
  18. WOW - where will this be placed? State? Amazing piece of geoart - thanks for sharing. This is in Southern California off the I40. About half way between Barstow and Needles. COOL - could this be done in conjunction with the Rte66 Power Trail? Looks to be in the same area!
  19. WOW - where will this be placed? State? Amazing piece of geoart - thanks for sharing.
  20. Oh and in addition to the Head Alien along the ET Highway there is also the UFO. http://coord.info/GC32PCT Just did that one - 51 caches - about 7 miles of hiking but very nice series. We did more than half of it at night which was way cool!
  21. Heart outside of Vegas - Middle point is a puzzle called "My Heart" - http://coord.info/GC394T0 put out by taylortribe1. 20 caches plus the bonus for the puzzle. Can't figure out how to post the photo - it wants a URL but the photo is on my computer - anyhow - it's a heart.
  22. Heh heh - ok so I have not fallen since I was about 12 and roller skating BUT I've fallen three times now while Geoaching - worst one was on a hill in August when I lost my balance - stepped backwards to the sidewalk only there was no "sidewalk" and I ruptured my achilles tendon. Off caching for almost 6 weeks - UGH - still not 100% but I still hike the woods - use a hiking stick now for some extra stability. No photo - dumb me :-)
  23. OH my gosh this is just amazing - what a great concept and wonderfully executed! KUDOS to you!!! Thanks for sharing it with me - I feel like I'm still a part of the Aussie team
  24. My pet peeve is the ever increasing incidence of PaF or "Phone a Friend" - the "hey I'm at this cache and I can't find it so please tell me where it is since you found it already." AND some of them are not content with a hint - they just want to know where it is. Then why are you in this game? Maybe it's just me but I do enjoy the hunt and I log LOTS of DNFs. It's a testimony (in most cases) to the CO that they have successfully done a very cool hide and to just tell folks where it is or what the container is - well what's the point?
