  1. Sometimes it's just me, and I enjoy the solitude. Sometimes just my wife and me, we see the sights and soak in the whole experience. Sometimes it's the two of us and our son and 3 dogs, a galloping good time. And..sometimes we take guests along to introduce them to the sport and the great outdoors. Heck, I'll take almost anyone with me! Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  2. quote:Originally posted by bradtal: __GeoCaching.com uses MinDec format...__ Your GPS may come set to one of the other formats which can cause some confusion. Good Point! On my first hide I wrote the cooridinates on the lid of the cache in DegMinSec and only realized my booboo when I went to enter the hide on site. Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Criminal:If it seems like a long way, I'll bring the whole pack, mostly so I don't have to hike the cache twice should I need something I didn't bring. This is my approach too. Better to be prepared than not. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  4. I have used my Visor for about 2 years, but am just beginning to use it for cache hunting. The pocket query to Mobipocket thing is ok, but I find it a little awkward (probably oe). Can someone out there tell me a better way to download cache pages to my PDA? Thanks, Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  5. I'll pass on the Fedex offer, too costly.....Pony Express? Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  6. I am sure this has been covered before, but I couldn't find it. I retrieved a TB the other day and am handing it off to my brother to place in a cache near his home town. How do I do this? Please either provide the answer or use the MRA (Markwell Research Approach) to guide me to a previous thread on this topic. Thanks, Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Jamie Z:You can hear a very short audio clip of me hitting a deer in http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cachelog_details.asp?start=&L=569128&ID=112994&decrypt=. Jamie I am sorry for the deer and the damage it may have done to your car, but your sound byte is hilarious!!! It belongs on America's Funniest Home Audios. Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  8. I just made a dentist appointment for my helper monkey. I am tired of him chewing on stuff, so I am going to have his teeth extracted as a present to me for Christmas. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  9. I get the same site maintanance message. time: 10:05MST Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  10. This is not politics either. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  11. I wanted to get a GPSr just to have a neat techno toy. I was searching the Net in an attempt to make an informed buying descision and BAM! There was this site that told of a high-tech treasure hunt. GULP! I was hooked then and there.....the rest is history. Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  12. I do see that there appears to be a way to program a waypoint into it....my bad. Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  13. This looks like the GPS functions will be to provide current speed and direction. Question: Even if you can program waypoints into it, how often can you actually ride a quad right to a cache? You still need to get off and walk so unless it detatches, you still need a handheld. I guess we'll have to wait and see what features it has. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  14. The funny thing is that we haven't logged any yet. There are many around here, we just can't seem to get it together to go find 'em. Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  15. ..so I can't use the MRA (Markwell Research Approach to show you what Jeremy's comments on this were. I can only tell you that the bottom line was what umc has mentioned, and that is the privacy issue. Cheers, Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  16. quote:Originally posted by BrownMule:looks like "what's it" .... Feels like "what's it" .... smells like "what's it" .... tastes like "what's it" .... It is, It is "what's it"... Man I'm glad I didn't step in it. ....Now let's go eat! Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  17. Now that was funny! I even noticed the sarcasm right away. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  18. If you had actually read the posts, you'd realize that I was being sarcastic. I make my living using computers. Go unplug yourself, chum. Quite defensive I would say. I must have hit a sore spot. Sorry. BTW, your sarcasm was noted. Now relax, and do your best not to post a reply, as you have already gone over your average today. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  19. who will or won't be interested in Geocaching. I have introduced my brother, brother in law, mother, mother in law, and two friends. The result only my brother is a registered cacher. My mother and one friend like to go along sometimes, and the rest of them? Nothing. I agree, that most of the people I talk to about Geocaching ask "What's so great about that?" As was mentioned in posts above, it's their loss! As far as addictions go, this is a pretty good vice. Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Mr. Snazz:This is my 500th post. As I look back on the past ten months, I see obstacles overcome, challenges met, and foes bested. I see someone who has averaged almost 2 posts each and every day.....UNPLUG yourself from the computer man! Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  21. I like them all. It depends on who is on the hunt with me, if it's my teenage son, we like a tough one. If it is my mom, or my granddaughter, we like the easier ones. What I don't like is when they have been plundered or not maintained. Cheers, Dave Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  22. This is the new one! Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  23. We haven't actually set out with the intention of doing it in the dark, but we have run out of daylight on the way back to the jeep before. Maybe this weekend I can get them out in the dark...sounds like fun. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
  24. The nicest thing I have put in a cache was (like umc) a mini-mag flashlight. Did a $10 bill once too. Unlike the Playdoh trader, I try to trade up whenever I can. Me ambivalent? Well..... yes and no.
