I know of a person who searched for a cache thrown out of an airplane, so I am willing to bet there is someone out there willing to help. You may want to try in the state forums.

Because no cache would not be considered lame by at least one person in the Geocaching comunity, I demand a ban on all Geocaches. I say we close down the website, round up and throw away all the caches in the world just to make the whinning minority happy. Face it Micros and crappy regular caches are here to stay. Some people like to hunt bison tubes in rock piles, or go through a dumpster to find a cache. If you like it great, I don't but I am not going to call for a ban on micros in rock piles. The biggest thing I hate is a cache I can not find. New rule all new caches being placed must be atleast four feet high, four feet wide and two feet deep. they must be placed just off the side of the road but must have a back trail to them for those who like to hike. I'm going to stop now because I could go on and on but in the end it will not make any differance. once this slips off the first page someone else will start a new thread about the evil micros, and the result there will be the same as all the other threads before this one. Hay maybee we should just start a thread called micro bashing and pin it so we don't get all these new threads about micros.

I take it Tom is known for his devious hides? Judging from your cache hides I would have to guess Welch lives around Vinton, possibly cedar Rapids but don't think so.

You are close. For the first few months I will be staying about one mile north of this cache GRRP1 Heritage Trail. I hope to spend the first few weeks there on vacation and doing some caching. I was also thinking of doing an event to get to know other cachers in the area. Are events well attended in that area? Also if you could think of any sugestions for a place that would be helpfull too. Out here we regulary do them in a restraunt, simple meat great and eat, need to do one here before I leave town.

What do you do about the cachers out there that do not record there finds online? I know one person in AZ that refuses to get caught up in the numbers game and will not log any of his finds online. He also has some really good hides, quality ones. On the other side I know of some with over 1000 finds that have wall mart lampskirt micros. By your rule the quality ones would not exist and the wally world ones would. I'll take a beautifull hike over a parking lot anyday.

I know the one BigHank is talking about, you can't miss it. All of the ones I have found by peoples houses were larger contains designed as a safe place to drop off TB's inside large cities. Most of the ones here either have pictures of the cache or give the adress so you know you are not in someone elses yard.

The above are good but fifty and hundred dollar bills work too. Just let me know what caches you plan on putting them in before you go. I too get most of my trading swag from the above mentioned places. If it is something you, or your children would not like to find in a cache don't get it.

Use to live there, may take a little while but I remember alot about back there. Little fuzzy on the diffrent types of cow's out there but am sure it will come back to me. I will be moving in a few months from AZ to Iowa. I don't realy have a time frame for getting there so I figured I could do some cacheing and maybee meet some people or do a few events along the way. I have no idea wich route I will ultamatly be taking to PQs and tracking along a route do me no good. I will be getting a newwer GPS, Garmin 6ocsx and a laptop. I want to know if most hotels and coffee shops have internet access. that way I could regualy check for caches, events and people wich ever way I go. Any experiance and knowledge about this would be appreciated. Also any info on what to look for in a laptop for this trip would be helpfull.

I know there is a guy out there with over 900 finds and he never uses a GPS. He is a professional surveyor and uses maps to find them. So yes it can be done, but most of us use the GPS.

I have a large on on the side of my house, but I posted pictures of it so they would know what they are looking for. It can be seen from the street so you know you are in the right spot.

I just addopted the first cache I ever found, so I will keep the smillie for that one. All the caches I placed or helped place will not be logged as a find for me. If you placed it there did you really find it?

This is beside my house so I can keep an eye on it. If it was in an area that is not close to someone there is a good chance someone will break into it. You would have to use the proper wood , and what about bugs. I spray around mine so there has not been a problem with that.

Besides being a favorite food for jumping cactus, I have had only one semi good/embarassing one. Loose rock, good incline, the mickey mouse ear cactus, and my butt. Add them together I learned I can pick out cactus of my backside in the middle of the desert.

What are you doing here get out and find a few so the obession can sink in deep.

Hit an event talk to sopme other cachers and check out there units, ( get your mind out of the gutter). I'm sure they will be glad to show and tell all about why theres is the best, plus you get to see it in action.
