  1. Have you tried this from Garmin: http://www.garmin.com/manuals/UsingaGarmin...Maps_Manual.pdf Nice link. I had to bookmark that one.
  2. Go for it!!! I just can't seem to find one that makes me look geobabeilicious.
  3. ABSOLUTLEY........lol You're not a geocacher unless you can spell cache, have seeked cache AND have the chiggers to prove it.
  4. lol-don't you just LOVE the Army surplus store...
  5. I enjoy the hunt just as much as being taken to a special location I dont think its a bad thing that not all caches dont take you anywhere special. AMEN!!!
  6. It stands for Geo Zombies, a term that refers to those that stumble around like a zombie following the arrow on their GPSr. Okay, really, it's Ground Zero. lol-That's cute.
  7. That was...beautiful, man. If only I could cross-stitch. lol
  8. I think the dividing line is more likely between the numbers hounds and those who use geocaching primarily as a way to explore the world around them. I think any numbers hound with a conscience would feel a twinge of discomfort at the idea of playing their game in a cemetery, while those who focus on the educational aspect of the sport are grateful for the opportunity to discover a new, interesting place. Well said, this is EXACTLY why I love this hobby/sport/addiction. I've learned of so many places that I never knew existed and have seen some awesome scenery.
  9. It seems to me that when someone says "now it's not about the numbers, BUT blah blah blah"...... It really is about the numbers, for them.
  10. If you don't have Google Earth, you're missing out! It's an application that you need to download. (To find it just Google 'google earth') Once you've downloaded it, you can download a geocaching plug-in, which you will find on the right toolbar of your profile page that will show all the caches in an area... like in the picture below. The lower half of the screen is an internet browser that opens the cache pages if you click on a particular cache icon. Click on thumbnail below for the bigger version! I LOVE this app! Is this what you were looking for? edit: oops.. posted at same time as Briansnat... what he said Wow! Thanks, this gives such a different perspective of things. Awesome........
  11. WAY TO GO!!! Stay with the ammo boxes/tuperware containers and leave the micros alone, for now. The micros will only frustrate you to no end.
  12. Thanks! I've had alot of responses posting in the slaga forums.
  13. I too bought my Etrex Legend off of Ebay. You have to check out the seller though. Someone who has no negative feedback our has sold thousands of items with minimal negative feedback is the way to go. I also trust Amazon. Good luck!
  14. Start by finding caches that are rated 1/1 and make sure they are regular caches. The micros will just get you frustrated. I speak from experience............. (Although, I must admit I kind of like them now.) Welcome to the addiction!
  15. Fictional: Mr. Darcy REality: Colin Firth, the only Mr. Darcy (As long as he can call ME Ms. Bennett).............sigh............
  16. "I just can't let it go... I released one little guy last summer and he up and dissappearing before even being logged one time. I have since turned my entire home into a shrine in his honor, I light candles for him every night and cry myself to sleep wondering if he's ok. So far I've lost my job because I can't stop weeping in front of the boss. I've lost my family because they think I'm crazy for building a 20ft tall replica of the little guy in my backyard. My dogs have left me because I forget to feed them after I curl up in a little ball and cry myself to sleep. I just can't seem to get over the loss of this my dear travel bug. " the love of a geocacher.......or is it insanity?
  17. I usually go caching by myself and have been thinking it would be nice to have someone(s) else to go with. My husband isn't into caching so much and the kiddos go every now and then. I was hoping to do a group hunt with other female cachers. Anybody out there looking to do the same? I have only been to one cache event and didn't really get to meet many people. I can be a bit socially shy at times. lol Keep on cachin'!
  18. Personally, if I was seeking this cache and got a little frustrated with the parking/hiking aspect of it, seeing the view would make up for it. Hide that cache!
  19. 30 miles west of St. Louis, happy to help you on your mission!
