How many fit into each Garmin model?

I'm trying to get good coverage of all local geocaches on my Garmin ETrex 20 and I'm running into a "too many caches" on startup. I'm wondering if getting an SD card would help, or if I'm just running into what is essentially full RAM. If I had more storage with the SD Card, would that help go over the 5000 (or 2000, whatever it is) limit? Thanks so much.
