  1. Howdy, The 60CSx will handle a 2 gig card. I have a 1 gig in mine and holds all of Canada in City Nav and Western Canada in Topo. Cheers
  2. Does no one here run a laptop gps system? I figured this would be a popular topic here. The Garmin one is simply too expensive for me right now (I would love to buy it don't get me wrong) but 140 + Dollars is too much. I was trying to get some answers from the sellers on Ebay but they hever answered back, I guess they are too busy basking in their power seller light.
  3. Hello everyone, I am looking at setting up my laptop in my car and buying one of those USB GPS Recievers on Ebay and was wondering if you guys could tell me if the ones I listed below are compatable with the software I have... First of all the software I am running on my Windows XP based laptop is as follows: City Select V6.0 City Navagator V8.0 MapSource Topo Canada Will these units from Ebay work with those softwares? Here are a couple example receivers that are well priced: http://cgi.ebay.com/Holux-GR-213-USB-GPS-r...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Evermore-USB-GPS-Recei...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ProGin-USB-GPS-rec...1QQcmdZViewItem I know I can buy the Garmin one but it is very expensive and not within my budget. I am just not sure if I 'need' the Garmin one to work with my Garmin software or not. It would be great to be able to get away with a cheeper knock off unit like the three I linked to above. Will any of those work for me? Thanks in advance for any replies. PMH
  4. Howdy, Indeed you can load the software on as many computors as you wish. Just enter your original unlock code like you did when you installed the maps on your laptop. I'm running the same Mapsource product on four computers with no problems.
  5. The depth function and water temp functions of a sonar are displayed by the GPS, no 'depth chart' is displayed. Its handy in a very rudimentary sort of way, but certainly no fishfinder/bottom scanner. Knowing the depth of the lake I'm on is the info I'm most interseted in. Does anyone know of a "rudimentary" sonar is capable of relaying this info to the 60SCX?
  6. Howdy, If what you say is true, then why is there a menu displaying water depth and water temperature. Could be a Bluechart feature though I thought sonar was a possibility. If it was available I guess most of us would already have it. Thanx, Boris
  7. Howdy, I purchased th Garmin 60SCX when it first came out (upgrading from the 60cs). I've read in the manual that you can hook up a sonar to the gps. Does anyone know where I can find this accesory or even which one works with this unit. Greatly appreciated, Boris
  8. Howdy, Yes you can get the name displayed. Go to EDIT>>>PREFERENCES>>>MY GPS RECEIVERS>>>GEOCACHING>>>WAYPOINT then select GEOCACHE NAME. Voila!
  9. Thanx for the input I guess I'll have to wait. I have to RMA my unit with all the glitches its been having (screen dying for no apparent reason, up on the D pad barely works, etc).
  10. Howdy, I've recenly noticed that the turn warning on my 60csx are occuring very close to the turns as opposed to my 60cs which actually gave me some breathing time. Has anyone seen a way to change the warning time ie. beep earlier? All the people I've been cutting off would greatly appreciate it! Thanx
  11. Howdy, I've been having numerous problems with my 60scx shutting down (and no its not the batteries). I read on another thread about trying a master reset by pressing PAGE + ENTER + ON. Did nothing on my unit, has any else tried this. Thanx
  12. Like I said I'm still on the original set, never installed lithiums into the unit. But thanx for the cool link, I had no idea there was access to a diagnostics page.
  13. I wish it were a simple matter of swapping out my batteries but the gps is so new I'm still on the original set of Energizers that came with the unit. Lemonade anyone?
  14. Yes I have the new update, and no I did not have more than 1050 map segments (I had 1043). When I wiped the card and only loaded it with 280 mb the problem dissappeared. Perhaps the firmware still cannot cope with the upper limits of the memory card. The problem only occured when trying to switch between city and topo while entered onto a POI.
  15. Just installed and fully loaded a 512mb card into my 60csx. Now whenever I select a POI through the find menu beit a waypoint or whatever, selecting "setup map" through the menu causes the the gps to fade out and die. WTF? Reinstalling the origonal 64mb card clears this problem. What the point of extra memory if the unit cannot handle it (even with the firmware update)?
  16. Sorry, new to the term RMA? What's that
  17. I just tried swapping out with my original 64mb card and the problem was gone. When the 512mb went back in "setup map" caused the gps screen to slowly fade and shut itself off. Are these gpsr (60csx) not capable of handling a fully loaded 512mb card? Perhaps another issue for the firmware developers.
  18. I am I the first to encounter this problem: select a waypoint, then enter on MAP. Once waypoint is selected then press menu for "setup map". When I press enter the gps actually dies (whether battery powered or powered by external source) and I have to turn the gps on again. Does anybody know if there is any possible explanation for this (I did just load a 512mb card) or will my next icefishing trip be found with my mapbook while I wait for a warranty repair. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanx
  19. Found Canadian supplier @ http://www.tigerdirect.ca. Picked up 512 transflash for $64 CA.
  20. Thanx but I was looking for a Canadian supplier so I can avoid the cross border duties.
  21. Just picked up my 60csx from gpscentral out of Calgary. Now I'm trying to find a 512 transflash card somewhere in Can but to no avail. The largest I could find is a 256. Anybody with info?
  22. Got my 60csx from gpscentral out of calgary and was wondering if anybody knows where to find a 512 trans flash card? The biggest i could find was a 256.
