  1. Why post GPS locations when phones have it "built in"?
  2. I live in Stanton, CA. Are there ant clubs local to me?
  3. Does someone sell a "hide a key" or cache like this? You know, those things on the top of metal fence posts.
  4. THANK YOU! I figured there was a setting for that but I couldn't find it! May I suggest adding that as a question when you join? Or at least, when you enter your zip it automatically adjusts?!
  5. Strange. It says 3:45pm in iCal and Google... so it isn't a single setting. Is there a way to set the timezone in the geocaching app/website?
  6. I signed up to go to: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC9WKXX_koffie-first-then-cache-and-cache-and-cache?guid=833502ea-3025-4842-add5-8e02c62dde27 I clicked "Add to Calendar". It's off by 8 hours! I missed the meeting! Tried with Google and Apple.
  7. Nice! That toothpick trick is a great idea!
  8. I hate micros and minis... YES, I live in SoCal and if you have anything nice, even 30' up in a tree, it goes missing... but I can't leave a trackable and it's almost impossible to get the log out or to jam it back into the cache. I just started last weekend and only have 18 catches... but I have yet to see anything larger than an Altoid tin can.
  9. I still don't know what it means! Any geocacher can move a collectible trackable to their Collection. Trackables in your collection do not show in your Inventory. You can only Discover a trackable when it is in another geocacher’s collection. Are they saying collectable has nothing to do with if the item is rare or not? Or if you can keep it forever or not (a gift)?
  10. You can keep it or take special care of this?
  11. Well, it's a game. And you can game a game. I think being in the vicinity of cache at least proves you attempted to find it versus logging a catch across the world. Also, I'm not really sure I understand the point of signing a log book because it's not like you get credit for checking in and then the owner verifying your login. You could claim you found 100 caches today and there aren't any checks or balances.
  12. Well, I am surprised that Geocaching doesn't use the GPS they are already using to verify finds. When Foursquare was a thing, if you wanted to log a visit to someplace in Augusta, Maine it would tell you that you are nowhere near there... so nope!
  13. I live in SoCal the all I have found are Altiods tins, bison tubes, and film canisters.
  14. Started geocaching three days ago. Up to 11 now! SoCal resident. Inbox me.
