It should be on option for members whether it's a member's only cache or not. What's the point...to try to get everyone to post member's only caches?

  3. Most of the watchers will most like be past visitors. The watch list usually increases with each find. I watch all the caches I've found, except some virtuals, and enjoy reading the logs. When I read the log that's emailed to me, I try to compare notes of my experience at that location.

Obviously the person who is asking for that option cares, or he wouldn't be asking. It sounds like a cool option to me, and if you didn't want to see who is watching your cache, don't look and your life goes on as always.

There are some things I'd like to see implemented as well, which wouldn't make any difference to anyone else if they didn't want it. Instead of embracing new ideas, there are always those who are vocal enough to try to suppress these ideas because they can't see a benefit to themselves.

What's funny is that some of these vocal "let's not change anything" types have wish lists of their own. I know you can't please everyone, but what harm would it do to try? If the question is being asked, then it must be important enough to that person, at the very least. Why would it bother you if he got what he wanted?

Does anyone know where I can purchase some snake-proof underwear? icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Or at least a jock strap. I'll bet whoever invents some will see some good business.

  7. As with anything else, read the label directions. I haven't experienced problems myself, however my wife won't let me put any on the kids. They use Avon skin so soft repellant. The website www.deet.com is very informative and has a page about use on children. I think that like with anything else, you should do your own research rather than taking someone's advice and read the manufacturer's label.

This is getting a bit off-topic, I posted the poll because I was wondering if anyone uses the stuff in their hair.

Well, there was a chemical reaction between the deet, the foam and some other plastic on the handle of the fishing rod. My had temporarily stuck to it and I got tothinking that that goop aint good for anyone. Lone behold its been concidered a carcenogen over the last 8 years or so. Don't use deet. Use some other bio friendly stuff, or just bare it like I do.

It may be classified as a carcinogen, but it's a Group D carcinogen (not classifiable as a human carcinogen). There are a lot of myths about DEET, usually passed around by people who really haven't done any research on it. Kinda like an urban legend. As far as a chemical reaction with the foam, I've heard of similar type reactions, but the only ones that concern me are if there is a reaction with my skin, or the plastic bottle the DEET is in icon_smile.gif

  10. You can wear thick boots and buy yourself some snakeproof gaiters or snakeproof chaps if it worries you. I understand most folks are bitten on their hands when reaching for things, so turning logs and rocks over with a stick is probably better than using your hands.

Perhaps there's only room for so many announcements and you will need earlier events to get finished first.

So.. unless I am in a location with exceptionally good southwesterly views and I really need the differential corrections that WAAS provides, I leave it turned off.

I don't believe it will work the way you describe, but then I'm not using an Etrex. You only need a lock on four satellites to get a position. If you are receiving a WAAS signal, your accuracy will improve. I use a Meridian Gold by Magellan. Here's how they describe it:

Meridian Gold finds your location by tracking up to 12 GPS satellites simultaneously. Assisted by the U.S. Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), the Meridian Gold is accurate to within 3 meters or better.
