  1. I personally would not "log" any of the CITO that I do. Too much hassle for me. I always take a small plastic bag along that I keep in my pocket just for that purpose. Of the few times I have gone caching so far, I have collected trash at only about half of the sites - the others have been "clean". I personally do not need the atta-boy for doing what I believe is TRTTD (the right thing to do). If there was a check box or radio button for the CITO on the log page, I would be more likely to use that - but for a separate log? I vote NO. "Bassmedic"
  2. Yesterday, I emailed them to see how to order suction cups for my antenna, and they are sending me a whole new set - gratis! Definitely a great company... "Bassmedic"
  3. OOPS - Told you it was a test of math skills! I think it should be .57 years old on Uranus... I was actually thinking of DRINKING a Guiness instead of calling them... Thanks for pointing out the error! "Bassmedic"
  4. Let's see - I am 0.19 years old on Pluto... 4 years old on Jupiter, & 1.75 years old on Uranus... How many Earth years would this be??? This is a test of one's math skills, INCLUDING mine. (disclaimer - no prize will be awarded for the correct answer!) "Bassmedic"
  5. I say "Tally-Ho", but only when I'm with someone. Otherwise I think to myself, "Tally-Ho"... (It was a code word we once used on the F.D. radio when we found a plane that had crashed in the woods the night before, so the news people wouldn't be tipped off that it was located - and it worked!) 6. It depends entirely on which "bells & whistles" you want/need. I bought a Garmin MAPgps 76S, because it had the right combo of bells & whistles. For me, I wanted mapping, external antenna & power, altimeter, compass, and a decent amount of memory, plus other features. I did a LOT of research first, and I am happy with what I got. Good luck... 7. If you did "find" that special someone while geocaching, wouldn't you have to log your find??? "Bassmedic"
  8. I have a Garmin GPSmap 76S, and it's compass works fine. You have to keep it level, though...I calibrate it when I change batteries, just as a matter of course. Is that a pun? "Bassmedic"
  9. I have used a Magellan (Map 330) at work. It was just "OK". I bought a Garmin GPSMAP 76S & I love it! I recently had to return the 76S back to Garmin because a firmware update got hosed, and they had to restore the software. The unit was out of warranty, but not only did they restore the firmware, they also replaced the entire case, LCD screen, and never charged me a red cent! That's what I call customer SERVICE. I don't have any Magellan customer service story to relate... Bassmedic

  14. Anyone have any luck "calibrating" the altimeter? Mine is all over the scale. I have it set on Auto calibrate, variable elevation. Would "fixed" elevation work better? I live in FLAT south Florida! Thanks...
