  1. I recently found my first bug, while in Aruba. I followed the bug's wishes & moved it along. The cache it was in wasn't a hotel that I could determine. I've been to caches where there was supposed to be a bug in it, but is always not there for whatever reason. Also, I do not seek bugs - I seek caches. My 2¢ worth... "Bassmedic"
  2. This one in Aruba is 1008 miles from home (Pompano, FL)... The Other Lighthouse "Bassmedic"
  3. Thanks for the info. I brought mine along on the Explorer OTS last summer (Miami/W. Caribbean), and used it a few times, to see where we actually were, and how fast the boat was cruising, and how far we were from home, etc... We're leaving Sunday on the Adventure OTS & the GPS will be on my carry-on bag. We are gonna try to do some caching in Aruba, and possibly some of the other islands...Should be fun! "Bassmedic"
  4. Seat belts wouldn't have helped much either... "Bassmedic"
  5. FYI, MacGPS Pro v 5.0.6 just released. http://www.macgpspro.com/ What's new in this version: Added import of route files in GPX format. Added import of track log files in GPX format. Fixed a map-opening bug with the Swiss Grid Map Projection. "Bassmedic"
  6. so would everybody else Good point! "Bassmedic"
  7. Hide some new caches full of dog crap. After finding a couple of those, He or she might find a new hobby! Or rig a hidden camera that is tripped by a sensor or when the cache is moved. My 2 scents!! "Bassmedic"
  8. It is an intermittant problem. Sometimes it works, and you need log in only to one or the other...Just one of those computer things... "Bassmedic"
  9. You need to to go to USB Settings in VPC & enable USB and then select the USB adapter. That will complete your setup... "Bassmedic"
  10. They will work out of the box, but you need to use the correct map datum, which for GC is WGS84. The GPSr also stores almanac information of the satellites based on it's current location, which may take several minutes the first time the unit is used. This will also usually set the GPS clock/calendar, depending on the unit. There are other forums on the subject that are much more detailed... "Bassmedic"
  11. Just think...Now you can order a pizza (and beer) and have it delivered to your coordinates while caching! Yum!! "Bassmedic" (added beer)
  12. I use Mapsource on my VPC equipped Mac all the time. Works just fine. I have the Win98 version of VPC. I'm going to upgrade to the XP version soon... Good luck. "Bassmedic" Removed comment about adapter.
  13. Hmm... Other than storing a document file on the iPod, I'm not aware how you could display a file. I have a 2nd generation iPod. I know the newer models can store photos from iPhoto. Just a thought. Edited - Added comments: Found this on iPod site: "Store Text Notes With the notes reader, you can transfer text-based information to your iPod and read it on-screen. Now you can have the information you need — from restaurant reviews to concert guides to news articles — right at your fingertips." Good luck. "Bassmedic"
  14. How about a "pack" of cachers. As in a pack of wolves hunting down their prey...Cachers hunt down the bootay! "Bassmedic"
  15. The lawn maintenance crew just left my house! I think i'll go caching today! "Bassmedic"
  16. S/he is also a newb - but common sense should still prevail with choice of hitchhiker... "Bassmedic"
  17. Uh oh... I bet this one will attract the local bomb squad, and the media! "Bassmedic"
  18. I think it's OK to cache in spurts - just NOT the other way around! LOL... "Bassmedic" Yeah, I was waiting for that.....and hoping this doesn't give nudecacher any ideas. Eeeewwwww... Bad visual! "Bassmedic"
  19. I think it's OK to cache in spurts - just NOT the other way around! LOL... "Bassmedic"
  20. I think it's a great idea! I live in Pompano, and would definitely be interested... "Bassmedic"
  21. A few months ago, I upgraded the firmware on my GPSmap 76s, and it got hosed & made a brick out of the unit... I had to return the unit (out of warranty) to Garmin. Because it was caused by gremlins, Garmin restored the unit with the new firmware, AND also replaced the LCD screen, the entire case, & the battery compartment - ALL GRATIS!! They had the unit back to me in a matter of about a week. I think I had to pay for shipping to them. So if things go south while you update the firmware, Garmin will make things right! Great customer service/support "Bassmedic"
  22. Whats wrong with tadpoles? Why tadpoles are just about the best darned thing on this site. TADPOLE PRIDE! Why there's nothing wrong with tadpoles! I think they are quite tasty, especially with hot sauce!! (I just wanted a different name under my avatar space!!!) "Bassmedic"
  23. Congrats... I got all teary-eyed and covered with goose bumps when I achieved the magic 10 post milestone, and lost that Tadpole designation!! "Bassmedic"
  24. Wow! I guess I travel pretty lite in comparison to some of you folks! I have 2 sticks in the back of my Explorer, to get rid of spider webs on cache hunts. I wear a "fanny pack" that has most of what I need on my limited experiences caching. Trash bags, a few swag items to trade, spare batteries, flashlight, pens, paper to make notes on (my memory is sh*t...). Also bring jug of water, GPS (duh) & camera. I live in So. Fla (flat as a pancake), so the climbing and snow gear isn't required!! "Bassmedic"
  25. I was also receiving the Server Too Busy errors last evening while logging my cache finds from yesterday. All was well when I logged in this morning... "Bassmedic"
