  1. There's a group getting together to do Black Beard's Grotto on Sunday. If you haven't done this one and have some free time, please join us!

    GCHW60 - Black Beard's Grotto

Meeting time: around 0800 near the Marine Room restaurant at La Jolla Shores

Tide: .5 low tide at 0945

    Info from the cache page:

the coordinates listed above (N 32° 51.008 W 117° 15.821) will lead you not to me treasure; but to me treasure map. The length of this trek is not so very far, especially if you select the right place to park your fine car. Start your trek here: N 32 51.120 W 117 15.644 and have no fear, the roundtrip distance you travel will be close to a mile; albeit through damp slimy puddles and large slippery gravel.

    Hope to see you there!

I remember getting pretty wet with a negative tide. Be very careful of the black rocks.. they are extremely slippery! Have a great time!

  2. :D Congratulations to FlagMan and devhead for FTF and LLOT for STF!!! :D Although LLOT could easily been co-FTF with the other guys, he decided to do something other than geocaching - Hmmm... It's the first time I've seen James pass on a FTF - suddenly I got a puzzle idea! <_< or not... <_<

Anyhoo - when's the party???? I'm doing my best to have it on Saturday, June 7th; I'll have to work on a suitable location.

A Peter Piper type of place is good.. Our events in SD seem to get bigger and bigger and those places seem to have more room. :)

  3. OK, roll call for Saturday! If you could please post if you will be meeting us @ 7:15 at the park & ride for breakfast at Penfolds, or just meeting us up at the trailhead at 9:00. After our tour of the Rawson trail, some of us will be hangin' in Temecula, and some of us will be heading back home.

Looking forward to an awesome time!

    Robyn <_<

Mom, Chelsea, and I will be meeting you at the P&R at 7:15.

We (Paul & Michael) may be able to show up at the trail head.. don't wait for us though. I may just decide to sleep in for once! <_<

  4. Time to party!

Somwhere in Tecolote Canyon the 5th and last golden ticket to Mr Wanka's Chocolate Factory was located. Oooops, wrong story.

Congrats to Tom for being FTF on Tecolote "Puzzle" Canyon #20 - Finale! :):):P

That's about the goofiest picture of me I have ever seen! I look like a dork! But maybe that's because I am a dork?!? :P

Your to sexy for those shorts! :P

Awesome Tom... and I know exactly where that bush in the picture is! :P

  6. I just added a hint to Teco 20 - let's see if anybody is clever enough to figure it out. :)

I also decided to up the ante for the FTF - you get an all day hiking trip in Tecolote Canyon after your pizza and beer :);)

Well, then, I guess I am about as clever as a tomato (or is that, tomato?). I can't believe he is making us beg for a hint to access the hint... This whole thing is going to end badly, I'm afraid...

    Tom,

    I don't think I even get as high as a vegetable. :)

  7. It looks like there are different time constraints for the Otay Mountain Truck Trail after the event. I will plan a run on that trail in the next few weeks for a day run. 5/6 hours is faster than I would like. I think the last time we did this trail, stop at all the caches, it was 6+. The truck trail is 2wd accessible for the main road. 4wd and higher clearance is good for two of the off shoots trails. At the east end of the truck trail is another dirt road with a couple caches on it. I think that supports 2wd also..

  8. Looks like there might be a few of us doing the Rawson trail up in Temecula on April 26th. If anyone would like to join us, please post and we'll set it up! Tentatively, there is Team Reid, Canadian Grl, and possibly Habu!. Penfolds for breakfast? Will announce details closer to the 26th. Should be a fun trail!

Robyn & Kathy of Team Reid :P

Where is that trail Robyn? Do you have a cache I can center on or trailhead?

  9. I'm a Park Ranger for San Diego County. There will be 2 physcial caches placed at Goodan Ranch on May 10 (Event Day Only). County Staff will be observing to see how much negative impact these 2 caches will have.

Both of those people that were mentioned are still listed in the county directory. I could retrieve their direct numbers, however, it may be more appropriate to go through the correct channels.

Thanks Paul. I sent an email and opened discussion with the DCAO's office and introduced Tom. Chandra Wallar (Deputy Chief Administrative Officer) has already responded and directed staff to look into it. Hopefully with Tom's help and help from GC this can get resolved.

    Cat & Bobby

    Thank you Ranger Roger.

I hope that you will find that Geocachers take extra effort to care for the environment. If you have any problems, questions or concerns, please let us know.

  10.:D Don't forget to come to the South Bay next weekend for the event at Otay Lakes :ph34r:

    GC1AJCR

A Lake, a Snake, and A Cake will be a fun event for the whole family. They'll be Geo-Bingo, raffle prizes, lots of nearby caches and a chance to picnic with your geo-buddies. Check out the cache page for more details.

There may be time to run the Otay Mountain Truck Trail after the event.. ? :P Otay takes about 5-6 hours to hit all of the geocaches. Great views! The west side of the trail starts just south of the event and goes east to the 94.

    Happy Birthday Paul!

    40? Oh My! r/ jnj

40?! Dude, it's time to start thinking about things like AARP, caching out that IRA and maybe even one of those little containers that reminds you to take your pills every day.

    Just kidding...I'm older then you.

:D Thanks everyone! Brian, all I have to say is that your older than young me. :P

  12. Looks like a group will be heading out to do the Sandy Creek Cowboy Caches this Saturday. We'll probably stop for breakfast at the Denny's at Los Coches in El Cajon at 7:00, and be heading out east by 8:15. Sorry for the early start, but we need to make it to the going away party for da beave! If anyone has a telescoping ladder, please bring!

    Robyn :anitongue:

OK, time for roll call! We would like to know who will be at Denny's @ 7:00 and who's showing up in the parking lot @ 8:15 for the carpool out east. If you can't make either, just show up at #3 @ 9:00. Please post if you'll be bringing the ladder!

    Robyn :anitongue:

We can't make it this time, but have a great time! We will be at the evening event though with everybody.

La Posta Truck Trail, up Morris Ranch Rd, and back down Fred Canyon Rd? Is Fred Canyon drivable all the way to 8? I remember when we were out there last time and we turned around at the top (past the gate) to come down they way we entered. Did not know if that was a must. Don't think I can make it, but those caches are great!

  14. Well, it looks like The Splashes will be joining everyone at Geo-Woodstock!! WOOOHOOOO!!

My daughter told us she would take care of things at home for us if we promised to NOT dance naked in the mud and don't eat the Red Licorice~~ :D That is what Woodstock is about, right? :(

We have our reservations at the Orchid Inn & Suites also, and we will probably be leaving on Thurs. also and caching along the way. We may never get there! :D

Haven't decided whether we will drive straight thru or stay somewhere on the way, so Jerry & Pat we may run into you!

Is everybody staying on Sunday night also? Jodi, is John going to take all of his 'Homies' on a caching tour?

    The Splashes :D:ph34r:

I am staying at the same place, I think. Roseville right? Finkbr and I are flying up on Friday night and staying till Sunday. :D See you guys there!

    Paul

Since you'll be flying right over them, do you want us to log you into any caches we find along the way? ;)

Great idea! I record the tracks to see which ones I fly by. :D

  15. This is sort of a wierd request, but could anybody planning on holding another event......

NOT do it on May 3rd ?? That will be the date for our.......We Be Jeepin II Event........... We can't post the page just yet because we can't pre-run the trail until sometime this next weekend (after the CITO, of coarse) With 3 events in a row in April, we needed to put our NOT request in.........

    Thanks!

    The Splashes ;)

Can you do it on the 10th, I am hunting turkeys at Lake Sutherland on the 3rd. I was invited by a friend that won the hunt. But if not that's fine.

I could do either. I will hold that not event free just in case.

    Paul

  16. I was wondering in which direction people are heading out for caching next Saturday after the CITO?

I've done about 75% of the caches in the area but am a bit weak in the Superstition Mtn Region. I also was too chicken to do the Illyngophobites or Acrophobites beware! Cache (GCJ5RC). If any jeeps want to join me it'll be moderate four wheelin'.

    Dave

M2 and I were discussing possibly hitting the jet engine and bomb range from the south side. This would take us through the sand dune areas. Lots of fun driving on that! We have not discuss it much, but coordinating another possible group would be great. 4x4 required, etc.

  18. It looks like Unknown to U/Chaotic Cacher's habit of placing caches in plain view of muggles has finally caught up with him/us:

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a0-b7d98ad07be7

I did a drive-by of that one recently and was glad I skipped it! I wouldn't have wanted to be surrounded by eight people with guns! It was in the median in plain view of a security guard so I skipped it and put it on my ignore list (along with about 25 other U to U's).

I just saw this. I have been in that building before. ;) It was a very interesting experience. Pretty cool inside. It seems they could have been few in numbers, but they obviously made their point.

I saw that too.. LOL pretty good timing!

When ya gotta go you gotta go. I used that same rock glad it wasn't me that was caught in a picture. 00020148.gif

Even though you slipped by the camera, Skillet, Rooster noticed you. I thought she might be embarrassed, but she said that it was "no big deal". ;):)

So that leaves an unanswered question, who's the pee-er? From what I can see there's only one vehicle in the photo that seems to have made an emergency stop. Does it come down to a wee-little mistake from a red Jeep on every outing?

I am the one standing on the left side, so it wasn't me. :)
