  1. DING DING DING!! Thank you, Timpat! I didn't realize that there was a beta out that I could download. I had used the check for updates function under Help, but I hadn't thought to check for a beta version. I downloaded it and the gpx file I was trying to load came up without a hitch. Thanks a lot!
  2. Has anyone else had problems loading gpx files into google earth? I've contacted Google already about this, but I have not gotten a response yet. I have been able to do it in the past, but now it will not show any points from a gpx file. The temporary places list is empty after loading the gpx file. There doesn't seem to be an error when loading it; it just doesn't load.
  3. I have 18 or so PQs that pull up every active cache in florida. Every week or so I just start scheduling the PQs that haven't been ran in a week or so. IceCreamMan got me started on that. No more hit-or-miss roadtrip planning. I just get the directions out of google earth, convert it to an arch using gpsbabel, and run a 1-5 miles filter with that arch against one big gpx with all florida caches in it. Nothing too complicated...
  4. Our first cache had a bad run in with some type of tractor, I believe.
  5. For those curious as to what the FGA coins look like... regular edition on the left, limited on the right
  6. Are you listening, Garmin? This shouldn't be a hard fix, please... If anyone finds a way to change this setting somewhere in the menus, please let me know.
  7. I can "live with that," but I don't have to be happy about it. I just want to be able to store unlimited amounts of caches as POIs and see them on the map when I'm zoomed out to a reasonable distance. I'm thinking the entire state of Florida would be good.
  8. I set everything to 3 mi and still no POIs displaying. Jeff, your meth'd-out penguin creeps me out...
  9. I can see them zoomed out to 800 ft, but not any more than that. Is there a setting that I am not seeing?
  10. I also cannot see POIs on my display when I have no destination selected. I'd like to see the distribution of POIs in the area, but I can only bring up a POI through the Find menu. Does this have anything to do with not having any maps loaded? I haven't bought any MapSource maps yet, but I loaded some custom POIs.
  11. I bought the and Garmin automotive mount with suction cup and cigarette lighter power adapter. Both work great. Having the gps attached to the side window makes it very easily accessible and you never have to fumble for it when you want to look something up or need directions. The power adapter is nice for long drives so you don't kill you batteries.
  12. Thanks duckit and whitecrow. Now I just have to find the money for CN and a bigger microSD...
  13. Can anyone tell me how much Florida, Georgia, & Alabama would take up on a card?
  14. I orderd my 60Cx from lake powell yesterday. Provantage doesn't actually have them in stock according to what they told me. They order it special from Garmin, process it, and then send it to you. This slows down their delivery considerably, but also does not guarantee that they will have the unit you ordered any time soon. I'd cancel my order with them and go with someone that actually stocks the product you are looking to purchase.
  15. I haven't been caching for very long, but I have thought of a couple of things that might make the use of geocaching.com a bit easier or more versitial in my opinion. One thing that I think would be very useful would be referencable personal waypoints. For example, someone could have their home, office, favorite vacation spot, etc to reference in a query or even as a "distance from" reference point when viewing a cache page. Maybe they could be referenced as P___ or something like that. Sharable points might be neat as well. Another thing that I would like to see would be the ability to run a pocket query against a user so that you can download a gpx of all the caches a certain user has hidden. This would also be a neat thing to do wtih a travel bug for tracking. I like to drop gpx files into Google Earth, and being able to see a map of where a travelbug has been would be really interesting. Well, that's my $0.02 for now. Thanks for the site!
