I work in a large processing center for the Postal Service. Please remember to add extra, extra, extra packing tape to the outside of the boxes of goodies you are mailing. Do not use any type of string/twine to wrap up the package. Use a black ball point pen to write the address to where your package is going, and not a black marker or other colored marker. Black ink is the best. Use print block lettering if possible when you write the address. Do not add stickers to the outside of the package as this can confuse our machines that automatically read the address. On the inside of the box, have the destinating address written on a paper attached to an item in the box. That way, if it breaks open, we can tell where to send the package. Did I happen to mention that you need to place extra tape around the outside of the package!? The packages get quite the tumbling while processing and need extra packing tape applied. Also, please keep in mind, that the postal service is also processing UPS packages along with certain FedEx packages- while still processing USPS packages and letters. (We process their packages and they fly our mail) Please remember, We are working hard to deliver for YOU! and appreciate your business.

There are two large international postal processing centers...New Jersey and San Fran. It must go through one of those processing facilities if it going to another country. The postal service can only send it, it's up to Canada to finish the process. They have their own post service that does not communicate well with ours. If you sent it first class or standard, it will be a long time before delivery. If you sent it priority, it should be there within 2 weeks. Please remember, the postal workers of US also process the Fed Ex and UPS mailings. We are kinda swamped right now but digging ourselves out.

Once it is out for delivery, the mail carrier completes a final scan and it is marked as delivered at the time of the scan. The only way to get a delivery scan is if the package was delivered by the carrier or scanned as delivered before putting it in your rented mailbox at the post office.
