  1. I've got the permanent in my Jeep... but have ordered a suction-cup mount to the window for flying... maybe you should check into that? Good luck, and enjoy! bo
  2. Scott, that's excellent what you've done. The reason I was inquiring is that I just recently bought the G-V and then started taking pilot lessons - so, not going to buy a pilot, right now ... keep me posted when you get more information. bo
  3. I am wondering - is there a way to download the info for the aviation Pilot III to a GPS V .. and vice-versa? I started flying about two months ago, and have tried to find some information, to no avail. Thanks for any info. bo
  4. Hey, Undrhil... I'm in B'ham... would love to get together, sometime. Email: justbo@bellsouth.net
  5. quote:You have to extract the files from the zip file you download from Garmin. Once extracted there will be three files. You open the MeMap program and it will ask you for one of the three files from Garmin. Point the program to this file and do a search for "WARNING", This will bring up the Warning screen and all of the text that is associated with it. With a little practice, you will be able to edit the text so that it contains the info you want it to display.Once this is complete you upload the file to the GPS and you are all set. If you still have problems with getting it to run, let me know and I will do it for you. Kar Kar... I've tried this, but it doesn't pull up the "Warning"... and then when I tried to get into the file using the notebook, and did my changes, it didn't change anything. What am I doing wrong? I'm using the GPS V, info you. Thanks for your help! bo
  6. I've used my PDA for downloading the coordinates and info using Word, then when I'm on the road and want to do a cache, I just put the coords into the gps, and go with it... otherwise, it's downloading from laptop into GPSr before a day of caching.
  7. I've got the Legend, Topo USA and Street Atlas... they all work well together! I tend to lean toward the Topo USA for travel with a laptop. Great stuff, this is. bo
  8. I just got my Europe Mapsource today, and was wondering the same thing... Thanks, guys!! bo
  9. Thanks, Jens... I'll check it out. Really appreciate your input, and information. Take care, and be safe. bo
  10. I just thought of this... have seen the Amazing Race, and love it. What if there was a show called, "GeoCaching - Amazing Race"? Would that be cool, or what? I'D DO IT!! bo N 33.446897 W -86.83069

  12. Thanks for the information... show me wrong, again! I'm so new to this, it isn't even funny. Just thought I'd try to be helpful. Thanks, again! bo
  13. I didn't know that Streets & Maps didn't do all of that, but what made me decide not to get it was that it only updated the laptop once every 15 seconds. I decided on the DeLorme Streets 9.0 (I think that's the name of it), and it works, GREAT! It does all that you mentioned, both the uploading and downloading to and from your GPS. I've really enjoyed using it, and still have so much to learn. Hope this helps, and not too late. bo
  14. I'm in the military, and would like to find some software that will have basic maps for my laptop and eTrex Legend... any ideas? Thanks for the information! bo
  15. Maybe you need to change the baud rate to 4800... that is what the legend recommends, I think. I just got one, and the DeLorme Streets and it works great. Not sure, but it may help. bo
