  1. Thank you for the info Chris. I was asked by the reviewer what I wished to do, move it or delete it. Of course, I retorted that I could not make that decision unless I was given some indication of what _he_ was going to do with regards contacting the cache owner and how much time was going to be permitted to go live or archive. I guess I will have to wait.
  2. I cant see that permission would be required in this instance, however, would it not be prudent (and indeed fair) if you sought permission before registering the location? Maybe its just me.
  3. So, I go ahead and place another cache. Pop it in its hidey hole, measure the Co-Ords and go home to log it. Total time - 1hr max. The cache is rejected because 'there is another close by, within the .1 mile limit' - ok, thats fine, but its not live. "When will it be live?" I ask our local reviewer. "Dont know, could be months" came the reply. Why? What on earth could take someone months to do? There should be a time limit on the placing of the cache to it going live, before the space is made free for someone to do it a dadgum sight quicker. Im off later to mark and then register my whole village in .1 mile squares "just in case I need them in a year or so" The mind boggles.
  4. I've seen the 4 in action, running the Geocaching app and in a word, it's Rubbish. It doesn't come close,to my Blackberry apart from being able to add logs whilst in the field a little easier.
  5. What issues? £6 for a USB cable on Fleabay.
  6. GSAK can indeed handle logs, hints and the description, but the eTrex H won't. There is a macro to put limited information on to the little Garmin, but you are limited to 6 characters for the cache name and 30 (or it might be 50, can't remember without looking) for the comment. You only need 6 characters, so thats no bother. As long as I can grab and download the hint, im happy.
  7. +1 For accuracy, my BB is top notch and far superior to my Etrex H. For mounting on the bike, getting wet and generally throwing around however, the Garmin wins and does normally settle down to about 10th from GZ. I've recently downloaded Gsak to use with the Garmin which I'm lead to believe will allow me to download hints, logs etc straight to it.
  8. Thanks for your input. Its clunky on IE8 and works when it feels like it, and doesnt work at all in Opera on my Ipad. I dread the day it moves from Beta!
  9. I did have a reviewer ask me to move a cache, so that it was further away from a current one. He wouldnt have it when I explained that if I move it further away it will actually be closer, due to a 4 Lane uncrossable A road, but he just wouldnt have it! So, its live now and a dadgum sight closer to the other cache then its original location. Still, what can you do? My local Reviewers in East Anglia seems to be doing a great job.
  10. Well they work for me, and TBH I think they're streets ahead of the old Google maps so I can't agree with the above. Plus 1 no issues for me and they are much better and quicker. Maybe its a setting in the browser causing an issue? Tried five browser platforms across four laptops and an iPad. I don't know of any cachers on my friends list that use them.
  11. I disagree with whomever wrote that! That is the single most stupid log I have ever read. My Blackberry Bold is far, far more accurate than my Garmin H.
  12. Happens to me all the time. Does not matter what browser or laptop im on or indeed on my Ipad. The new Beta maps are quite simply a joke and should, I think, be avoided for the time being.
  13. Really? Interesting choice, perhaps not one I would have gone for.
  14. He he - No problem. Im taking them home for my daughter to see, then I will let them go.
  15. They _were_ waiting, I now have a couple of them on my desk next to me. :-)
  16. Incredible. I go back to read the cache description again and the answers are now visible. Where is my pen??
  17. I always pick up a TB or Coin as I work in Berkshire but live in Cambridge, so Im always able to drop them off 100+miles away. I _would_ have visited the cache tomrorow but I have no idea at all of a ) What the puzzle is supposed to be or How on earth I would work it out. So, I will just do something else instead
  18. Buy yourself a cable for the Etrex Dan, will save you having to get sore fingers entering the codes in manually
  19. Do you need one? Cachesense is perfect in everyway and I cant see how you can improve it.
  20. I caught our run-in with the Police on video. Luckily, I caught the cache in time to show them Was filmed at 02:30 Caching with the Cops
  21. I bought a Garmin eTrex H GPS recently and was disappointed with it. I much prefer my Blackberry Bold 9780 running CacheSense as it seems to get me a lot closer to the Waypoint location. I will keep it as a backup but cant see myself using it at all.
