  1. We found the cache Willoughby Layby GC5NEVR on 20th April. Our log is there, the cache page shows it is found, it has the little smiley icon next to it in the cache listings when you do the search for caches near home, but bizarrely, it is still in the list (no other found caches are) when you check the filter to not show found caches. Not the end of the world, but marginally irritating!
  2. Didn't mean to be mean! Yes I am in England...but I think there are similar/the same items sold the other side of the pond!
  3. I have an Etrex and bought this USB cable a few weeks back and it works fine, no hassle (For the record, I have no connection to this seller at all, I can just vouch for the fact that I bought this and it works!) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-SERIAL-CONVERTER-DATA-CABLE-GARMIN-eTrex-GEKO-GPS_W0QQitemZ260775134765QQihZ016QQcategoryZ139836QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It goes straight from the Etrex to a USB port, and I download pocket queries into EasyGPS (free software) and then you can export it to the GPS in a few seconds. They provide the drivers on a mini-CD. I'd never seen one of these before but it works just as a normal CD in the drive. Hope that helps.
  4. You can be truly delighted! See my post here (and the previous post in that thread). Basically you use the little 'flag' icon on the map screen to add a point (or points). Storing the cache as a favourite will preserve these extra waypoints. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=267876&st=0&p=4601364&fromsearch=1entry4601364 I bow down and thank you
  5. Another vote for the full app. We started geocaching a whole 2 and a half weeks ago and are now 45 caches to the good We use the iPhone app and a Garmin eTrex. The iPhone app has the advantage of being able to see caches in your surrounding area whilst the etrex (bought mine 2nd hand for not a lot) is more accurate imho and has the advantage of having a much longer battery life which you can also carry spares with, whereas the iPhone app demolishes the battery and a couple of hours is tops. Also (and if anyone can prove me wrong on this, I'd be truly delighted), there doesn't seem to be a way to enter co-ords on the iPhone app which proved slightly irritating at the business end of a puzzle cache and multicache. So what I'm saying is the iPhone app is well worth it, and I think accuracy wise the iPhone can get you to the general place, but the biggest drawback as far as I'm concerned is the limited battery life.
  6. We've been caching for a couple of weeks now, and it is fair to say have been well and truly bitten by the 'bug'. There are two of us, plus my 7 year old son, 6 year old daughter and mostly, the dog too! We started with the 'treasure' idea but in honesty, they've just completely bought into the idea for what it is. I'm loving the fact that it gets all of us outside on days when I know we wouldn't have ventured outside the door unless we had to, and we have already fallen onto the cliche of 'Wow! I didn't know this place was here!' a few times already too!
