There'll be plenty more announcements soon including the all important side events! Please get in touch with any feedback and suggestions. After all we are doing this for the geocaching community and without you there would be no point having a Mega.

Dave/Deceangi has been a voluntary Groundspeak reviewer for Geocaching within the UK for approximately 6 years. To celebrate his 5th anniversary, Groundspeak presented him with 30 gold geocoins and he has kindly donated one of these to the UK Mega 2013 committee to raise funds for their Mega event. As you can see these coins are extremely rare and very collectable. We are currently auctioning the coin on Ebay. So far the isting has sparked a bidding war between three cachers leaving the auction at £270 at present. Feel free to push the bids higher and higher! For those who are interested the website for the 2013 is now live! All the information we have to date is up there so you can get planning your visit 15 months in advance. Registration is also now open for adults, children and even dogs. www.mega2013.co.uk

Here's an update for you all on the 2013 UK Mega event. The mega will visit the West Midlands region for the first time in 2013. The venue has been announced as the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon and will take place on Saturday 3rd August 2013 - save the date now! The website is under construction and will be online shortly (we will announce on this forum when the site goes live). Photo Competition In order to produce a calendar we are running a competition to find some good pictures to use, representing each month of the year. The Mega 2013 Photo Competition is coming to an end tomorrow (Monday 30th April 2012) so this is your last chance to get entries submitted. The competition is open to all members of the Geocaching community and any photo – old or new – can be used. Although hosted on the West Mids forum there is no need to be a registered forum member to take part as this has been set up so that it can be accessed without logging in. Each entry costs 50p and multiple entries are allowed per person. All proceeds go to the UK 2013 Mega Event fund. Winners will be selected by the Mega 2013 organising committee and will recieve a calendar, geocoin and another special gift to be presented at the closing of the Mega event. It may be 2 years away yet but the thought of Mega 2013 has risen it's head and the idea of having Mega Midlands has been raised on wmcaching.co.uk . As a starting point we are having a bit of a get together in September to discuss ideas and decide whether we want to go forward with it, hopefully we will decide to and get a committee together as well.
