  1. hobodude, you are/were on the list for 4... no bumping necessary
  2. I have you down on the list Icebreaker . We are waiting to see the sample coin before we invoice anyone. Look for an invoice by the end of next week. We'll post a picture of the sample on our website (www.landsharkz.ca) and let everyone know via this thread when it's there to be viewed. After that we will begin the invoicing process and we'll post here when all the invoicing is done. If at that time, someone didn't get an invoice, please let us know.
  3. Well yes...since you asked... We are expecting coin samples for us to approve by late next week, or more likely early the following week. We had to send the art back for a couple of revisions with the factory artists; they'd put a 'modified' curve in the whale's tail and changed our dogwoods (BC's Provincial Flower), to magnolias .
  4. I received this paragraph back from the artist who designed the orca images a few moments ago... "The whale image is a simplified Haida design. I had to simplify it for reproduction on the coin. In Native stories the whale was a sea-going manifestation of the Wolf (a great hunter). It was said that whales had the power to overtake canoes and turn the inhabitants of the canoe into whales. This I believe is one of the reasons of the great spiritual bond between whales & humans. Like Luna (the whale that has been in the news lately) wandering whales were believed to be transformed human spirits in search of their human loved ones."
  5. I've forwarded your request to the designer of the front of the coin and hope to have a reply to share with you soon.
  6. We're very happy to accommodate the cachers who live in BC, or in your case were born and raised here. Your request is approved and entered in our database! FYI, the final artwork for the coin went to the manufacturer yesterday, we should have a sample to approve in 7-10 days and then it's on to the final production run!
  7. Thanks for all your interest - your enthusiasm for our 2006 British Columbia Geocoin design is certainly reassuring! We've started a spreadsheet, and from all the posts and e-mails, we have entered your name and quantity if you've stated it (Eg: I'd like 2, 3, 54, etc).
  8. Hi all, Trackable? Yes. Icon? Yes (still to come) Image: Timing, still to be confirmed
  9. A trackable 2006 British Columbia geocoin will be available to order in the near future. This will be BC's first provincial geocoin! We are in the final stages of getting quotes and determining the quantity required; please contact us for more information. Thank you.
  10. A little present for the Ottawa cachers.... we brought a vigps.com geocoin with us and we'll be dropping it in a downtown Ottawa cache tonight . We really should have brought our complement of BFL's with us, we're going to out tonight with a tiny little LED trying to find hidden tupperware We've also just received (electronically) the final artwork for the upcoming 2006 BC Geocoin, so we'll be moving on with getting that produced sometime soon after we get back to Victoria. Check vigps.com or PM us if you would like to be kept in the loop of it's release date. It's our first production, so we're learning as we go .
  11. We've been here since last Saturday and we're leaving tomorrow morning. There's too many awesome galleries and museums to fit in a lot of caching, but tonight we're going to try to drop off the rest of the TB's and log some more caches. We spent a lot of time looking for Baking Bread...determined to find the impossible it seemed! It's been replaced, so we should have a more bountiful search this time!
  12. Thanks for all your suggestions. We are here in Ottawa and as welll as skating on the canal and visiting museums we're fitting in some caches. Baking Bread is proving to be a challenge... hence the 4 stars I guess! We've tried during the day and tried at night. We had the place to ourselves tonight at 11pm and came up empty handed. Hmmm. One cache has been inaccessible so far due to treacherous conditions, and possibly another, but we'll recheck our math before we give up. I guess it's back to the canal as we didn't have the gps loaded on Sunday when we took in the last day of Winterlude. This is a most beautiful city to visit during the winter, snow has been falling every day and we've met so many nice people.
  13. Thanks CG! Have you seen the icy cold weather in Ottawa?! We've got our skates sharpened in anticipation of the canal being open for skating. Hopefully the ice sculptures didn't melt with all the warm weather they had a while ago.
  14. Thanks Binrat, I've added them to our growing list. Landsharkz
  15. Thanks Kirok, I've downloaded it. I've also done a pocket query using Baking Bread's waypoint. Any other recommendations would be welcomed!
  16. We're leaning towards gc.com trackable....only because it seems the crowd favourite. It seems when geocoins (trackable or not) get found in a cache, they are kept by the initial finder rather than logged and then left in another cache to continue their journey. If this is the case, then why pay more to have them trackable, and then have to fit our design into gc.com's geocoin criteria? It's possible we can come up with a more creative coin (and keep the costs down) if we don't have to have it approved by gc.com (supposedly they prefer 2D rather than 3D). We'll keep you posted.
  17. Hello, Landsharkz (of Victoria BC) are going to be visiting Ottawa from Feb 19-26 and would like to explore Ottawa and vicinity while getting out geocaching. Our first day will be spent enjoying the last day of Winterlude! We won't have a vehicle and are wondering if there is a bookmark list of downtown caches, or ones accessible with a short bus ride/walk. Also, Mrs. Landsharkz would be open to finding a female caching companion for a couple of days during the week while Mr. LZ is working... poor guy We'll be bringing some TB's eastward with us to distribute and would be very happy to bring any TB's west when we return home. Thanks!
  18. Thanks for your input. The totem has been removed from the 2006 BC coin design. We're thinking of keeping the mountains, lake, trees and eagle. On the reverse will be a native designed orca. The totem was removed because we didn't want native art on both sides. If we do a future coin, we will include other BC wildlife and scenery and may revisit the totem again at that time.
  19. Hi, A newbie in our area (3 finds) has placed a cache: GCRB5Z. We hesitated to do a night hunt because it said "A fall from the crossing would be life threatening." and the cacher had limited finds. We decided to wait until daylight. Some local cachers went today in the daylight and found this cache to be 117m at 302degrees away from the posted coords. What's the best way to deal with this? My first instinct is to suggest that cachers should have a minimum number of finds before being allowed to list a cache on GC.com. We think the gc.com website suggested we wait until we had found a significant number of caches under our belt before we hid one and we think that was good advice. Also, another cacher in Vancouver has 22 finds and 3 hides, one without a log book and one which has been temporarily archived because it is too far from the listed coords. The cacher 'deifenbaker' seems to be in need of a mentor. If we were closer we'd offer to help them get the most out of this game; we haven't been around for ages, but we've seen how the game is played and caches are hid.
  20. I wonder if they are using 'follow road' or 'off road' let's hope it's off-road and up high! I put a note on my door for the postman to leave any parcels on the step (if we're not home they return them to the post office and make us drive there to get them) The UK has such wonderful postal service compared to Canada's... sigh.
  21. We're waiting anxiously across the pond... have you mailed the ones to Canada yet? I keep checking the post, but nothing so far. I grew up near 'Centrality' so these coins are near and dear to me. I haven't been back home to Scotland for 5 years; when I make it back next time, I'll be geocaching! My heart's in the Highlands...

    Bb Codes

Thanks Prime Suspect, I don't think this is a complete list though as I've discovered a few more by playing around with them. Colors mostly. Is there an official list posted anywhere?
  23. Landsharkz

    Bb Codes

Does anyone know if there is a list of all the BB tags that can be used with geocaching log entries? Also, is there any way to include a signature image on a log entry? Thanks, Landsharkz
