  1. Vicious fruit? What people call a kiwi in other contries outside of NZ we call 'kiwifruit'... what we call a kiwi is our national bird... a flightless bird but one we treasure with pride... google it and you may see the similarities with the fruit lol
  2. Wow ... awesome.. would be great to see something like this in good ol' NZ (New Zealand.... a distant land in the far Pacific Ocean... just over by Aussie.. Australia that is) Hmm the possibilities!!!! No massive deserts or tundra here but I bet our native bush would be a challenge! Mind the kiwis don't bite ya haha
  3. Hey there to all fellow cachers, especially the hiker and tramper types! We have two TBs within the 'Jingle Bell Rock' cache that need to get a move on... If you are into seeing the country as youve never seen it before.. here is your chance!!! Get those hiking boots on and give these wee fellows a move on. We would hate to see them have to hibernate here over the winter. Come on folks... we kiwis love our back country... and this is a gem! Keep us updated... Angelndemon of Hawkes Bay NZ
  4. Its been an interesting read going through all the posts in this forum....We also have placed a new cache only to have the FTF denude it of all 'valuable' items to be replaced with what we think are of lesser value items.. it is disappointing but it seems to be the nature of the game. We would all love to live in an ideal world but alas not. We often geocache with our two boys and do encourage them to think about what is an acceptable swap, it can wind up with a bit of a debate. So what we seem to do now is add lots of little kiddy stuff, kids are like magpies, if it sparkles or seems collectable, it's cool! up-caching is a great idea, and is something we try to do, but if there isnt something we think is worth taking, its a TNSL for us or left "..." SL. At the end of the day seeing another 'smiley' makes it worth it! PS: I have seen some truly aweful junk in some really awesome caches, it just comes down to a few rotten apples.....It confounds me sometimes that people can go the extra mile to find a cache but dont put the same effort into the trades... I could go on and on and on... haha but I wont. Happy caching everyone
  5. Howdy dudey, Angelndemon, from the 'bright lights, big city' AKA HASTINGS!!!! Pretty new to this game (since Jan 2011) and thoroughly love the adventures. It amuses us to no end, when we see where caches have been hidden. A lot of these are in places that we have visited, hiked and camped over the years, and we were completely in the dark as to what was there. Bugger! But it's a good excuse to go back to these New Zealand gems to rediscover the 'hidden' world of geo-caching. We take our 'spawn' with us on our excursions, they make for good tree climbers lol
