  1. I'm not but can I recommend my better half? (Don't hit me again dear,I'm typing it as quick as I can!!!!!!)
  2. I recently bought a geocoin and released it into the wild.It managed to travel the grand distance of 133 miles before some lowlife decided to trash the cache that it was in and steal it. As I've still got the tracking number for it,I'm planning to release something else with a tag that has my original coin tracking number on it,so that my 'coin' can live to travel again.... Has anyone got any links or designs that I would be able to use please? I'm not the most gifted person when it comes to artwork or graphic design! Thanks for any help, Thunderbird30

  4. May I pass on my best wishes to BT and his family from all of us here at thunderbird30.... I've only met him a few times, but I'd love to meet him a few more!
  5. When Firth of Forth replied with "And you had fun deciding who to give it to!!" I wasn't sure if they were talking about the white jeep or something else..... I thought that I did a very good impression of Dr Evil though......!
  6. I'll never forget turning up to a cachemeet with a white jeep to drop off and seeing the reaction of some folk. I'm not kidding you all when I say that some cachers were nearing a state of orgasm! Each to their own I suppose, but it worth getting so worked up about a marketing ploy?
  7. After a bit of trawling around the net,I've found several places that UK speed camera POI's can be found for free.Just google for uk speed camera bit torrent All you need is a b*t t*rrent client.............
  8. The gpsr maketh not the cacher! My old Magellan Platinum still does me well despite being dropped down steep slopes and dunked into lochs.............. Colour screens? No thanks!
  9. Thanks for that. It's just a bit confusing for folk to see the number next to "Trackable at Geocaching.com" on the coin and they automatically think the whole number needs to be typed in!
  10. I've received my coins and placed one in a cache. However the person that found it couldn't log it using the number on the coin! There was only success when the coin number was submitted as PCQ*** instead of PCQ***-*** (which is stamped on the coin) Any ideas why this would be? Great coins though.
  11. Nothing to do with the TV series with International Rescue, more to do with when I was young (listen carefully and you can hear the Hovis theme). I used to drink the cheap drink called Thunderbird.....The 30 was added because the username Thunderbird was already taken.. Now I'm older and wiser , I suppose I could rename myself Finest Malt Whisky30,but it's a bugger to type!
  12. No chance of any caching here this weekend...It's been snowing since Tuesday! We even had to dig the car out due to the local council snowplough heaping up the snow outside the driveway! Snow chains have been worth the money........ 7 miles south of Forres
  13. Sounds pretty good Alex! Don't know about the virtuals, but otherwise an excellent holiday.
  14. My travelbug , (Small Sliddley the Sight Seeing Slug) was retrieved from River view (GCP89E) along with 2 other bugs on the 16th October 2005 by a cacher called Big_Kahuna.Another cacher called Rocket Scientist visited with him. Both cachers are still active and logged visits to caches on 24th Jan 2006 & Dec 10th 2005 respectively.. Their last visit to the geocaching website was Jan 30th 2006 & Feb 1st 2006..... Does anyone know these cachers? If you do,could you let them know that I've tried contacting them both using geocaching.com asking nicely for my bugs to be placed or returned, but with no success. I am willing to pay for postage for my travelbug to be returned.

  16. Are we talking Northern/Southern England or UK wide here? If it's UK wide then for me most of you will be shandy drinkers!!
  17. You can't beat Sara's egg sandwiches and a big flask of coffee! Sara prefers coffee thats been in a flask to 'normal' coffee..........
  18. Started off in this: progressed to this: Ended up like this!:
  19. As a user of Geocache maps I was quite disappointed to see that the talks between the site owner and Geocaching.com have collapsed. For those of you that have never used the site,it was the best website for seeing the layout of caches in different countries imho. Although the site continues (albeit in a very cut down form) using data from Navicache,I still feel that it is a shame that things didn't work out. A sad day for cachers to be sure.
  20. We visited Amsterdam in August 2004 and were really surprised by the quality and quantity of the caches there. One of the best that I have ever seen was Lang Parkeren? (GC9591) which unfortunately has now been removed. Cache Photo One cache that we did and is still there, is Amsterdam Urban 1 (GC198) Happy Caching Thunderbird30
  21. I phoned Magellan only to be told that a repair could cost anything from 225-750 Euros.... I don't know where the unit was bought as it was given to me as a gift. After picking myself up off the floor I have deceided to keep my old unit and if I need to use it in the dark I will take a maglite with me One thing's for sure-my next gps purchase will not be Magellan.........
  22. After having my Magellan Meridian Platinum for a couple of years, the back light seems to have packed up. Needless to say that it is out of warranty... Does anyone know of any companies that repairs these units? I've been quoted £125 ex vat so far! A new gps would cost me that, but due to the functions on it,I'm reluctant to part with the unit. But then again £125 is a lot to pay out... Any ideas?
