Creating New Waymark Categories
Chipmunk replied to Jeremy's topic in Getting Started with Waymarking (Read-Only)
Hi I would like to suggest Royal Observer Corps Posts under the Buildings category. These are abandoned 4 man nuclear bunkers of which there are several hundred in the UK used by the Royal Observer Corps for nuclear bomb plotting and radiation monitoring. They were all decommissioned in 1991. These are visited by enthusiasts/historians and would make a great Cold War waymark. Thanks, Chipmunk -
Sounds great, the site just gets better and better

I wonder how are they are getting on adding the trigpoints. haven't heard anything for a while

Just wondered if anyone knew of a US dealer that would ship a new Garmin case to the UK for a reasonable price as none of the UK dealers seem to have them.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Cancelled old card and lost subscription. Well you live and learn. -
Oh no, still no reply. Please put us out of our misery

I hope the 'cuddly seagull' referred to by Northumbrian is my Canada Goose called Corgi :-) If not he has been birdnapped

When the benchmark database was in beta I sent Jeremy the database of UK trig points and he said he would add it to the site, then I sent it to him again recently when he requested it on the UK forum. Wonder if there is a technical problem with implementing it, wish we knew.

It will be great when we are able to log the trig points. Saw several at the weekend. They will have to remain unlogged for now []

Not geocaching, but similar in spirt
Chipmunk replied to dylanhayes's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Safari is doing very well, he's really clocking up the miles. He was back near Easingwold briefly and then again to Saudi! Forbidden Corner is an interesting place, I remember reading all the controversy over planning permission a while ago :-) I believe the cache is still there just not on geocaching.com. Nigel -

The website is at www.yorkshirenet.co.uk/theforbiddencorner Bye, Nigel -
If you could take Corgi along with you as well from the LBA Bug Hotel, that would be great. I think he needs to fly east a bit. Cheers, Chipmunk
