  1. Any help with getting a penguin on/with a draft horse? Thanks.
  2. It finally got approved after I took out all hints of emailing. Three of the game pieces have one digit from the coords taped onto them. You may get lucky and find them first or you may be on the last of the 18 before you find the right ones. It won't be active until I hike back to all the places where the game pieces are hidden and re-label them. Now I'm thinking further self-torture and changing the 'whodunit' and such once a year or so to keep it interesting. Can I do that?
  3. I use the above method also. Drawer === Black Hole Yup. And paper is something for the cats to play with and shred. I do keep my copy tags in a box with other geo supplies, but most of my computer time is at work, when the loonies---I mean Patients---are asleep. There's only so much stuff I can drag around with me. My car is already a one-passenger vehicle filled with ammo crates and sidesaddles ('nother whole obsession). So glad to hear this is going to happen!! Yayy! Thanks to all who made it happen.
  4. As much as I think men in kilts look cool, I just can't see the rednecks in southern Ohio tolerating them (no offense to anyone intended). Hey, Kilted Cacher, do you get shot at much down there in KY?
  5. Well, I tried to make a new avatar as I was tired of looking at myself on the forums. It is a Clydesdale horse. That part came out ok. When I tried to add the penquins, it kind of went south. Help? Also, anyone interested in designing my new wooden nickel in exchange for one of my new personal coins, contact me privately.
  6. The only problem I see with this is how to explain it ebay. "Well, you see, you leave these things in Tupperware containers in the forest ......"
  7. Hmmmm. You weren't in Chillicothe Ohio for the Veteran's Day Parade, were you?
  8. The Caching Place wanted $70 up front for the artwork. That money is applied to my first coin order, but I can let them sell all the coins and not keep any if I wanted to go that way (I'm not!) and they handle all the shipping and everything. I'll probably get 100 or so to keep for trades and let them sell the rest. Good luck and put me down for two!
  9. You can print shipping labels through www.usps.com and pay using paypal , but only for priority packages. You can't do it for parcel post.
  10. "Trade up, trade even, or don't trade" I have found that some people have a much higher opinion of their crap than I do! Of course, I did leave a golf ball in a cache the other day. I'm sorry! I was so tired I didn't want to drag the swag bag all over creation and most of the caches all day hadn't had good stuff in them, but this one had foreign coins AND a wooden nickel! I couldn't help myself, the evil cacher in me left a golf ball and a new geocoin......
  11. I love finding sig items! I have a nice collection of OU8ALIZZARD and Appalachian Lizard rubber lizards. My husband has a collection of Mr Bloodhound's red plastic firemen and several other firefighter's sig pieces. Wooden nickel sig pieces? Love 'em!! I leave one of mine and grab one I don't have.
  12. Argh! The local reviewer won't approve my Cloo game! He says it violates the guidelines because you have to send an email to get the coordinates for the final. BUT there has to be a final, otherwise it is a codeword cache and those aren't allowed, either. So.....my solution is to put one digit of the coordinates on each game piece (some caches have more than one game piece) and you can go to the final by finding all of the game pieces, or doing it the way SirGerald has set it up and maybe luck out and need only three game pieces. So maybe it'll get approved this way. At least he said this before I hiked all the way up to Pike to place the game piece up there. That's a bit of a hike for an old fat chick in the winter. Of course, it IS accessible by horseback, so maybe we'll take the horses out this weekend...
  13. I can sympathize! I am a FF/Medic with our volunteer department and I've been a psych nurse at a VA hospital for 15 years. The best one was when, in the middle of a fight with a nut, he managed to get his bare foot in the pocket of my scrubs and STOOD UP!! That's not something we train for.....later in the same fight, we finally got him down on the bed and managed to bend himself in half or something and bit me on the a**! Better than television some days.....
  14. I've posted one SBA. I had been to the site twice and couldn't find the cache. The obvious place for it was a rotted stump, but the ammo crate wasn't there. I logged a DNF, then later a note asking if it was gone. Later still, after one more trip looking for it, I emailed the hider more than once. Never got a single response. So I logged a SBA. It was a few weeks later, but it was archived.
  15. I still can't get into the geocacheohio website. Is it still down? For how long? I really want to get started on the Lonely Cache Club game!
  16. Oh, I'd have to have one of those. Many a caching day has ended a hundred miles from home at a Waffle House, too tired to do anything but shovel in a pecan waffle, hashbrowns, and lumpy grits.
  17. Avatar test. New avatar with penguin.
  18. I have a pretty good collection of rubber lizards and wooden nickels. I have a few 'calling cards', but I don't get into those as much. Some of the lizards are from Appalachian Lizards and some are from our Nevada trip and were from OU8ALIZZARD. Now I've added a rubber snake and a couple of buttons. My husband has a couple dozen plastic firemen. Plenty of stuff out there to collect, that's for sure. Have fun and welcome!
  19. The Caching Place is doing my coin. They handle all the coin sales, shipping, etc. All I did was put up $70 for the artwork, then when they are ready I will buy however many I want/can afford and let them sell the rest.
  20. My only run-in with law enforcement was actually for a cache I hid. I work nights, so sleep during the day and being awakened by a phone call from the sheriff (not a deputy, the man himself) was not giving me warm fuzzies. Seems a neighbor near the cemetery where I have a cache hidden called 911 to report a suspicious person hiding drugs in a tree. First the sheriff asked me all about geocaching, so I explained and went on to say I would be happy to remove the cache and take it off the website if it was a problem. He said "No!! Tell me how to sign up!" Now there are a half dozen deputies, a couple of firefighters, and a court clerk that are cachers!
  21. Don't worry. You'll get better. It takes a few finds to develop 'the force' that helps you find caches. Our first day we found 3 out of 6, I think. Having fun anyway, is better than the swag in the cache. My husband and I just enjoy getting outside.
  22. Don't worry about it. From any kind of distance, an ammo crate looks a lot like a lunch box. Sit down and 'have lunch'. If you act like you have every right to do what you are doing, more than likely no one will notice.
  23. Just curious, but how does Paxil get lumped in with addictive substances? It's an anti-depressant.
  24. The Caching Place has been great to work with.
  25. For southern Ohio, there are some really good hiders, but the best has got to be GrandpaCache. Creative containers, interesting places.....just the best.
