  1. Jim, I can't help you, and for that I am sorry. But, I do want to say that I appreciate the sacrifices your family is making for me and for my family. Tell your son that our thoughts and prayers are with him and his fellow soldiers. Corey
  2. Or, the manual might not include the batteries. I don't know (nor does it really matter to me), I was simply showing my source as much for my own piece of mind. It's all good. I can't tell 7.6 ounces from 10.3 ounces unless we are talking about beer!
  3. From the Garmin Product Comparison Website:
  4. Not that I have heard anything, but I did notice some things. The unit is heavy (10+ ounces), it doesn't have an external GPS antenna connector, and the display size is quite a bit smaller than the 60CS. The weight isn't a big issue, because I assume that includes batteries. BTW, would these "parents" you refer to like to adopt?
  5. I really like the Ignore idea! Once there are a bazillion (it's a big number) categories, it will be a necessity!
  6. I agree, I love the categories and the possibilities too. I do fear that once the Restaurants category has 598 different sub-categories under it, it may not be fun to look through.
  7. I would like to see it work like eBay. Anyone can look at the "family friendly" listings, but you have to be a determined pervert to get to the kinky stuff. Just don't make it too hard.
  8. Not that it matters, but I like your suggestion.
  9. I think the funniest part is that from the accounts above, the first cache was "burried". My how things have changed.
  10. I find these coins fascinating. I have a question and this may not be the best place for it, but: Do you have to do anything special with/for/to GC.com to be able to track these custom coins? I see many people get them serial numbered. What is involved in that so that a person can track them?
  11. I haven't done it, but there are a lot of threads about it. Here's one.
  12. Thanks, Jeremy. That really helps. I was getting all hung up on the terms everyone used.
  13. Now I am more confused. So, from the examples that exist today, we have the subcategory for "McDonalds" under the Category "Restaurant". How do we create the subcategory "Burger King"? ***I am NOT recommending that, I am using it as an example*** Do we follow the same steps for a new subcategory as the category? Do we speak to the category owner? I could see someone wanting to manage "Burger Kings", but not "Carl's JR" because they don't care about those. Or, does the "Restaurant" category manager have to manage all of them? Help me out here, please...
  14. I like it! Does it need to be free? I can't think of a single place in Illinois or Wisconsin where a person can camp for free legally...
  15. Was she familiar with Sign Language before she made it? The graphics do look good. She did a nice job.
  16. Just because I have a fear of not being liked, I would like to say that I think the 2/3 majority poll has me a bit concerned. If a person isn't popular or well liked here, they could get a thumbs down on a decent idea. Worse, the idea could hang in limbo while no one votes for or against it. Likewise, what are the chances that the community is going to shoot down a lame idea if it is presented by a well-liked or respected cacher? I would hope, since most of us are adults, this wouldn't happen. But, I can see the potential for politics or cliques creating problems. I think there should be some ultimate veto and / or acceptance role by Groundspeak. Furthermore, there should be an unbiased and fair appeals process. Just my two cents.
  17. First, Start GSAK. Click on the Tools Menu -> GPX File Association... -> (check the box that says "Force association each time GSAK starts) and then click Associate. That will fix EASYGPS from always starting. Of course, it will make GSAK always start, but that's what you want, it sounds like. Now, if you still don't have any data, I am going to guess you have .loc files instead of .gpx files. Do you know what the file is that you are trying to load?
  18. Here's the site where it all began.
  19. There is the deal maker/breaker for me. My wife's mini-van (2000 Chevy Venture) has that stinking metallic film on the windshield and I need a unit and an external antenna. I am holding out for the 60CS for that very reason. I would suggest finding out whether you can get a reading through your vehicle's windshield before deciding.
  20. Tell your driver's ed teacher that for someone to be "waiting there for you", they could have to wait for days, weeks, or months in some cases before they could find a victim. People don't visit caches for days at a time, sometimes. If someone wants to do something horrible to another human being, they are going to wait outside a mall / theater / atm machine where they won't have to pack a lunch waiting for a victim. YMMV.
  21. I think you did it just fine. You logged the cache find just like you are supposed to. Then, you logged the travel bug just like you are supposed to. Now, when you find the cache where you drop off the travel bug, you will do the same thing again. Only now, when logging the cache, it will ask if you left a Travel Bug. You will see what to do when you go to drop it off. Also, the cool thing about travel bugs is that they are not considered trading stock. You don't have to trade for them, simply take them if you can help them meet their goal! My daughter just LOVES to find travel bugs and learn about where they have been. They are a neat part of this game.
  22. If you search from your "My Account" page, you can "Filter Out Finds". Also, since you are a Premium Member, your Pocket Queries can filter out caches found by you and not include them. Then, using something like GSAK, you can filter by "direction" so that you only see caches in the proper direction from home that you haven't found.
