  1. Congratulations what a feat
  2. Congratulations. Not only do you get to 900, but your Geocaching adventure is conducted with grace, dignity and a healthy sense of humor.
  3. Does anyone in the Northern NJ Geocache community know anything about this organization: http://www.njsar.org/ It would be nice to put my interest in GPS, hiking, and the NJ outdoors to a worthwhile purpose. However I would not want to join or participate in a organization if it was half-hearted, rag-tag or disorganized. I was wondering if anyone had some experience or credible knowledge about this organization. Any insights would be appreciated.
  4. Congratulations, a neat accomplishment
  5. What is the solution? Turn off the internal compass? Only taking readings standing still?
  6. This is when I am walking. The problem never appears when I am in the car driving. In the car the directional arrow is always solid.
  7. This can be when I am a mile or so away. Sometimes when I go to a cache everything is fine, then on my why back along the same path I get an erratic needle.
  8. I have a Garmin Etrex Vista. But I have heard that other people have the same problem.
  9. I wonder is there someone can give me a good explanation, on why the directional needle on my GPS unit at times gets to be very erratic. I understand why the unit would be erratic while I am within the error distance of my destination. But sometimes for no reason the arrow points all over the compass, but the distance seems to work fine.
  10. Thank you for the thoughts. I have been busy with my kids soccer teams, so I have not been able to get out and find caches. I snuck a few in this past weekend. The soccer season is almost over, so I hope to find a few more caches before winter sets in. Great sport, every cache is a potential mini-adventure.
