  1. I recently purchased the 62s and used it for the first time this weekend. On each search as I slowed my pace I would experience this "sticking" also. It made for an aggrevating day to say the least after spending $$ for this unit. Are others still having issues or determined a solution? I am starting to consider a return and try another unit. I am having the same problem and I have also loaded the latest firmware but not the bata and I still have the problem about one in ten caches. I find it really is a problem when I am walking a trail and then turn left or right off trail to get to a cache. It sometimes sticks at around 200feet. I love the 62 unit but this is aggravating and I hope it is addressed in future firmware updates.
  2. I upgraded my VistaC to City Select North America Version 7 more than a year ago. I was checking the Garmin site to see if a version 8 was out and saw that the City Select is not the map choice any longer. What is the replacement software? Is it City Navigator? What are the differences in City Select and City Navigator? Anyone know why City Select is no longer?
  3. I'm not sure right now. We're looking for some direction! We're just looking for some great views of nature
  4. Hiya, just wanted to get some input from others that live in the Phoenix, Arizona area, or have visited. I posted this in the Geocaching Topics forum also, but, beopots suggested that I also post here to get more responses. We have some friends here (in Georgia) that would like us to fly into Phoenix, Arizona with them in February 2006 (not sure exact date .. but, about the middle of the month). They have a weeding to go to on arrival day, but, after that we plan to spend 5-6 days just driving around. Maybe visit the Grand Canyon .. then, who knows where from there. We are just now starting to look into sight seeing books and such. But, just from the 5 caches I've done I've seen some amazing sites! So, I though I'd ask here also. So, if YOU had 5/6 days to drive around and tour, starting in Phoenix .. what direction would you head in? Any amazing/fun caches you know about that you would really like to do out in that area? Any that you have done that you think are great!? Thanks for any input. I'll probably bring this back to the top in a month or two .. we're pretty excited about taking a road trip around there!

  7. Hiya all, newbie here with a few questions. I've been reading quite a bit, but, sometimes it is best to try to get answers to specific questions After reading around a bit and doing lots of comparisions I finally decided on the Garmin eTrex Vista C as my new found buddie. I've been telling the kids about some "treasure hunting" we're about to do in the woods and such and they are very excited! Got a couple of things though .. What, in your opinion, would be good mapping software to purchase for the Vista C? I'll use it for driving around so I do want to have street level details, but also, of course, I'll be using it lots in the wild hehe. I have a 4 year old and 10 year old, and a wife. I'm thinking of getting a cheaper, or used, unit for the 10 year old so he can feel like he's really doing all the work. Any suggestions on a pretty decent unit, say, under $100? I'm not looking for a piece of junk .. but, also not a newer top of the line unit either. I'd like to stick with a Garmin, just becase that is what my unit will be. I've done some searches and saved about 15 caches that I think are good "starter" finds for us. A few look very simple, a few are a little further in the woods. I didn't take anything that looked too hard right now, just because we've never done this. Any hints or suggestions for newbies? Like .. what if I'm way out in the woods somewhere and some guy comes up and says "what the heck you doing on my land?" hehe. Last thing, we're going to Disney in a week and Daytona (close to boardwalk area) after that. I'm not sure if there is any good hunting around such a populated area .. but, anyone know? Any suggestions? I'm a premium member and can do great searches .. but, not sure what to search on something this specific .. or, if anyone has any specific finds that they would like to share. Thanks for any remarks! We're VERY excited about getting out and taking on some new adventures! -- sugarcrum
