  1. I think it would be good to send them an email, including pretty much what you wrote above. We have a sensitive area here which originally they weren't going to allow geocaches. However, after consideration, they have allowed geocaches on man-made structures (like a bridge) so there's at least a couple micros for people to find.
  2. Tremendous, although I see you've found 500 caches, so maybe what you're doing is working well for you. Pocket queries, caches along a route. These are the main selling feature for me.
  3. When you come back from shopping/work and your partners asks if you found any caches.
  4. When you have spare batteries stashed everywhere. <Garmin, sigh>
  5. I'd rather a nano than no cache at all.
  6. No feathers ruffled here, I just can't quite understand your statement. Maybe because we still have lots of caches left to find in our area and also lots of parks we have yet to explore. Maybe if you've cached your area well, you'll need to travel to find your adventure? What we typically do as a family is to geocache in parks/locations that interest us and that we would go to even without geocaching.
  7. From my perspective, there's still a lot of discovery, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying your find count go up too. We have been geocaching less than a year, however, we have found that geocaching takes us to all sorts of places we would never normally go. We also live in a really fabulous area with lots of parks, so this is part of it. I do not enjoy urban hides much, but will go for them if in the area or otherwise looking just to increase numbers.
  8. Thanks for the correction. I've been a premium member for so long I forgot how much it sucked to be non-premium. I don't know how those people manage. To the OP, maybe wait a few more hours for it to 'kick in'.
  9. You don't need a premium membership to get all those details. Your GPS is paperless and a very good one, it was the first one we used. However, without premium membership you're going to have to load the geocaches on to your GPS one at a time, which is very time consuming. Did your GPS not come with a 1-month free trial for premium membership? Mind did.
  10. Interesting. I never thought of that until now. I don't have a special card, but I always carry my wallet with driver's license which has my name and home address. So presumably, if would be easy enough to look up our home phone number via the address or visit my family directly to give any bad news. No meds or medical conditions here that they would need to know about.
  11. Maybe it's time to go back and average your coords a few more times. Just saying.
  12. +1 My friends run the other way if I even mention geocaching. What's up with that? Maybe time for some new friends.
  13. Odd, we don't seem to have this problem alot in our area. Usually if a needs maintenance is posted, it's just that.
  14. We could use some. Perhaps we are lucky to have exceptional caches in our area, but I never seem to have enough favorite points to give out. Maybe time to do another powertrail.
  15. It's kind of appropriate that someone named z0mbieCache would be remembered for a topic that will not die. +1 Me thinks it's time to lock this beast down.
  16. We went today and things went well. It was by bike and about 50% were small containers and the rest micros. We did 15 together (took about 3 leisurely hours), then I went back later to do the rest alone. Looks like we may have a new convert!
  17. You guys are funny. I really need to change my avatar, though, as Mr Incredible might not appreciate me going on dates with other women.
  18. Thanks. I haven't even met her yet; I sure hope it works out.
  19. I'm planning to do a power trail tomorrow in an area which has enough wild animals I figure I should bring someone with me. Turns out, the only person I could rope into it is a total newb-never found a cache before-but thinks they want to give it a try. It's a long drive to get there and I'm kind of gun-shy at the moment. I'm worried maybe she won't like it and we'll find a few and she'll have had enough. Do you have to be totally obsessed to enjoy a power trail or is it possible for a newb to enjoy doing 29 in a row?
  20. the beach towels were those ones that are compressed down to a small package (about the size of a chewing tobacco can, only half as tall) It's probably nowhere near the size of a traditional beach towel like you are probably thinking tho, I call any towel that has a picture on it a "beach towell" There was a scooby doo and spiderman one in there sorta like this: Ah, love those little towels. Nice to see someone put so much care into a cache, sorry for what happened.
  21. You are welcome. This is a great way to look at it. geocaching.com costs $$ to run. Where does that $$ come from? Advertising and premium memberships. So premium members are subsidizing everybody else's fun. We're such amazing, giving, people aren't we?
  22. I think you're still allowed to log PMO caches, as long as you can find them.
