  1. Add me to the "would be interested in a kit or finished product based on cost" group Excellent work!!
  2. Two things. 1) I agree with MM that caches should be able to be solved/coords available from the listed page. If you clearly state the cache is at coords but no smilies are allowed without meeting the reqs, I believe 99% of the caching population will abide by that. Going a bit further I could see a bit of script added to Gc.com that would obscure the final coords until a "Requirement Completed" log or some such would be posted to a challenge cache. But they are such a small fraction of the total caches I could see this being very very low on the priorities list. 2) You said all 366 days, I assume you are including Leap Day. You do know that means your cache will only be findable every four years correct? Nothing wrong with that per se, but its mighty exclusive.
  3. yes, but my english is not so good, maybe I will make some picture description I'd very much like to see how you did this, I have wanted to make a cryptex for a long time. lol! I was JUST looking at this on Instructables yesterday and thought it would make a really cool cache.
  4. This might be the very definition of a cool cache. There was much more but that was all the wire would allow me to pull up before we broke it off.
  5. Cezanne, are you in the witness protection program? I kid. I have never required face-shots for any of my previous caches but a GPS in the hand and a unique item in the shot tend to work fine. I think photos should be allowed to be used as a logging criteria if a CO chooses so. I don't think a headshot should be manditory though.
  6. I agree that a photo is = to a log in a physical cache. Almost everyone has access to some form of digi cam these days, so I don't think it should be an issue.
  7. I know a few folks that cling to their Meridian Colors, but I also know a LOT of people that have been completely fed up with Megellan IRT their most recent lines of GPSr. So I think a lot of people wouldn't care one way or another if they left the handheld market. As it is Garmin is going to have to tighten up its belt to stay competitive with DeLorme, Bushnell, Lowerance, etc.
  8. I just submitted my first ever EC to the new system. I recieved a helpful reviewer reply in less than 6 hours directing me to a few things to tweak. So I am very happy with the new system from what I have seen. My reviewer was geoawareCA.
  9. Yup waiting on the site to reappear myself. This was awesome though
  10. Germany seems to always be a step ahead of everyone else in illicit geocaching activities. Armchair caching, fake virtual visits, now the scapers are finally getting hammered. Thanks Lep! I too was curious how Germany was pulling more hits than the US.
  11. Use imageshack or photobucket instead of gc.com gallery?
  12. Lucky for us down here, Louisiana State Parks are very welcoming and fully open to geocaching. Look around your local forums or email some locals and see how things are in your area.
  13. What type is this? I'm going to guess guardrail given the proximity to the road, but I could be pleasantly surprised. But my first question would be "what does varity mean?" Vanna, I'd like to buy an "e" for $200. It's a film can or pill bottle spraypainted camo which is wrapped with floral wire and hung in a tree bush, etc. There are two guardrail caches in the 144 caches, 4 (I think) roadside sign hides, a couple Lock N Locks, and some unique caches.
  14. The Geocaching Event Horizon - December 21 2012, I hear there is a movie coming out this weekend about what happens when everyone looks for a film can under a lamppost at the exact same time.
  15. Why do you need to maintain an offline database?
  16. The spamming GC mailboxes and offers of "prizes" were what made me bring this over to the forums. What caches someone logs bothers me not. (Although the generic logs are a pet peeve).
  17. I love the generic logs too "Logging for Team Cacheaholic VIA ___________"
  18. So I had a look at their profile and saw their location is Japan and yet they are simultaneously logging finds in the USA and Japan. This is just the weirdest thing I've ever seen as far as bogus finds go to be honest.
  19. It's not everyones cup of tea, but Bamboozle and Short_Circuit2 are some great guys that love Geocaching. I had the pleasure of tackling this stretch of highway sunday with two other cachers. We met many other cachers over the course of the day (usually also in groups). So it can be almost a mobile event and I know I enjoyed the company. There is not much road noise from 55, the trees are an excellent sound barrier. It's a wonderful scenic drive with lots of South Louisiana wetlands and temperate forests and very little traffic. We saw loads of fishermen and duck hunters going off to the shores of Ponchatrain.
  20. Where the heck has that occult hand gotten to? Did I miss something?
  21. I think it has been done.... several times. Why don't you look at what has been done in the past and do something different.... The best documentary I've seen so far (and not just because I make a brief appearance in it) is simply titled "Geocache," by David Liban. I agree and not because I am in it either But seriously I would love to see more features on Geocaching (don't capitalize the C, just an observation). There are several documentaries and also several Geocaching themed Fiction films. A few of those that come to mind are GPS, Find Me, and Splinterheads.
  22. Me in my Headless Horseman costume Our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Pandora, with her Headless Horseman saddle Our kitten, Saphira, in her Dragon hood, doing her best dragon impersonation Just for fun, my pumkin man serial killer Jack-O-Lantern
  23. I found a baby water moccassin under a cache of mine I was doing maintenence on. Count yourself lucky.
  24. As long as the cache is an item placed at GZ and not an item that was already there I think it is passable as a 'cache'. At least at the definable level, a 'cache' being a hidden item or store of hidden items. I know this was clarified a bit ago, but I've seen ziptie cache just recently that were less than a month old so they are still be posted. Now as the previous poster said, the reviewer may not be aware of the nature of the cache, but I think they add a bit of variety and they are defacing anything so I have no problem with these 'think outside the box' containers/logs/whatevers.
  25. Wow just checking back in to this thread. I am overwhelmed by the responses!!! I am indeed deep in thought on a follow-up coin. Also, please no one burn down your office playing
