  1. And hope for good weather. We had a nice day near Munich in Unterschleissheim, Schlossbiergarten and on the way home we found "Logical Cache". A beautiful place near our home which we would have never noticed without Geocaching.
  2. What is the price delta between them? The electronic compass is nice to have. I think you should take a look at some Garmin Dealer websites rather than have forum members do it for you...
  3. And the rest of Garmin's market is not interested because XM Radio is a North American Thing.
  4. My previous GPS was a GPS 60Cs, and I now have a GPS 60CSx. There is a world of difference in the reception quality of the CSx. I have used the CSx in Europe and in the USA and it works fine with no difference in reception. I might add that the GPS Sats are not Geostationary (they move constantly around the Earth) so you should expect no degradation in New Zealand.
  5. Maybe in part. The unlock code should continue to work for that legend. You can't undo the unlock code for the legend and then use it again on another GPS. You sould need to use the 2nd unlock code that Garmin gives for their software. I could be wrong as well. Garmin is very clear in that the unlock code is tied to a single unit. However you can obtain a second NEW FREE unlock code for a second unit if you have the original software.
  6. Mine desn't start with the last one typed in when I press "Find", but I can scroll down...and the "Enter" and "GoTo".
  7. Ok folks. I may be female but I'm not THAT dumb. lol The Garmin Quest does not use regular batteries. Its a built-in battery. And yes, I did think about opening it BUT I wasn't sure if "tampering" with the internal battery like that would have voided my warranty. With some electronic equipment "going where no man is supposed to go" voids the warranty. So to be on the safe side, I elected to leave it as it. I put it in my breakfast room and covered it up so I couldn't hear that earsplitting whine. I think if I can find a cache, I can figure out to remove batteries IF they are removable. Ah, but you didn't tell us what model GPSr it was until now. And most GPSrs used for geocaching are handhelds with removable batteries and not automotive GPSrs.
  8. I was out caching and I looked down at the screen to select the next cache and the screen looked smeared or skewed. So I cut it off and then powered it back up. The screen remained blank and it started emitting a high pitched whine. WHICH WOULD NOT STOP. It was terrible! I tried everything to get it to stop. Nothing worked. It was probably killing my poor dog's ears. So I had to head back home. I tried covering it up with a jacket to dull the sound. It whined the rest of the day and night. Finally the next morning the noise had stopped. It would power on but then cut off after a few seconds. BTW, it was fully charged and its a Garmin Quest. Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it. I really miss having it. This will be my third cache-less weekend coming up. DUH!! Why didn't you just take the batteries out? No Volts no whine.
  9. That is not the issue, the issue is in case of problems while downloading, you may end up with a dead GPS, will not start or be able to download again and you will have to send it back to Garmin to fix ! One of the changes in the latest version of Webupdater is to NOT start updating before verifying that the update is completely downloaded as I recall. Also it appears many have problems because they disconnect the GPS when Webupdater is apparently finished instead of waiting for the GPS to do a restart.
  10. ROFL Actually they say they made the drivers Vista compatible and fixed a bug with Webupdater...
  11. You must have the Garmin USB Drivers loaded. No there is no way as you need a legal activation code which you have to purchase. And the forum does not support or advocate software piracy.
  12. http://www.shieldzone.com They're having a sale. I have no connection with them other than being a satisfied customer. I have used the clear table cloth plastic material you can buy for little money at a fabric store, I cut to the shape of whatever i am covering then dampen and position, works well!! I got a lifetime supply from the Wally-Mart fabric department for about $2.00.
  13. Me!! It's a good product and the cats love the lanyards (which are not catproof).
  14. The bigger number is better, it means it amplifies the signal more.
  15. Some of the USB Adapters sold with Palms will only work with Palms.
  16. Even the 1GB card does not noticably slow anything down.
  17. Duh. I think you should send an eMail to Amazon USA.
  18. As far as I know, it will work fine as long as you install with the same GPSr. You will need only one code as the key code is tied to the GPS.
  19. Garmin ripped me off on the $75 rebate I was due. I wouldn't trust 'em. I'll never own anotehr Garmin product. How did they rip you off? Sent in all the forms, barcode, etc. (Complete with photo-copy of all contents). I never got the rebate, and none of their Customer No-Service rats would help via phone, snail mail, or email. I sent my rebate documentation registered and that helped a lot.
  20. Unless you are able to make your own maps, Garmin is the only game in town.
  21. mini SD is NOT microSD, which you need for a Garmin...
