Same for me. I think they have a general problem with their web application and hope it will be fixed soon to be able to go out geocaching on Sunday...

It might as well be my own fault by not having looked correctly.

When logging a new visit, the statistic gets updated automatically. But when deleting a log, it's not. What is the difference? Delete action is also statistically relevant.

I fully suport JPohaku - the address search simply does not work and especially as a paying member of this site I expect the site provider to have such basic functionality - and the search was never good, and now is unusable. I would say that searching for a known country or city is something extremely basic which just has to work.

I just did a search, where I specified only the country (Germany) and the search came back with way more results in other countries than Germany: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?country_id=79&as=1&ex=0&cFilter=9a79e6ce-3344-409c-bbe9-496530baf758&children=n I know that it worked before, because I found it interesting that due to the amount of caches in Germany (must be over 60K), one could see the shape of Germany on the map by all the cache icons. So, why would other countries be found in huge amounts if I filter for one?

Garmin bietet ja bei Kauf bestimmter Neugeräte an, die Topo Deutschland v6 Pro für 50€ zu bekommen. Meine Frage: Wäre eine freie OpenStreetMap-Topo-Karte ein gleichwertiger Ersatz oder lohnt es sich doch, die Garmin-Karte zu nehmen?

Thanks for the hint, I already found the Oregon 600 wiki - while it may be a useful resource, I wasn't directly able to answer my questions, except for the screen torture video, which I still have my doubt, is real.

Hello, I went through the other Oregon 600 topic, but it got a bit out of hands, so I started a new with a few specific questions, since I plan to buy it: - Screen: I saw torture videos and pictures of broken glass - so is the touchscreen of that device of comparable rigidity as previous units without? - GPS accurency: I saw people complaining about very bad accurency and others praising it for the opposite - so is the accurency reasonable good for geocaching in different terrains, e.g. forrests? - Map: In Germany Garmin offers a 1:25,000 topo map for a reasonable price when buying it with the device - does it make sense to buy it or is a OSM map an adequate replacement? - Geocaching: I had an eTrex for some while and it did a good job for geocaching, but was a bit cumbersome in operation, e.g. with input data or doing multis with having to update coordinates - is the Oregon 600 good for all common geocaching jobs? Especially for someone who also had a similar device before, I would be happy for some experience reviews. Thanks, Geziefer

Das eTrex 30 hatte ich mir auch schon angeschaut und wäre ja ähnlich wie mein altes Vista, allerdings ist die Bedienung per Joystick schon sehr umständlich, daher liebäugle ich ja mit einem Touchscreen - hatte mich nur gefragt, ob das auch wirklich robust ist und man nicht wie bei einem Smartphone Angst haben muss, es schief anzuschauen. Wäre dann u.U. auch bereit den Parameter Preis etwas nach oben zu drehen, wenn man denn was Gutes dabei bekommt. Habe das Gefühl, dass wenn man von der Joystick-Bedienung weg will, man entweder ein Modell bekommt, das schon einige Jahre alt ist wie z.B. das Dakota 20 oder das Oregon 450 oder man eben doch zum neuen Modell wie z.b. dem Oregon 600 greifen muss und entsprechend mehr ausgeben.

Hallo, wir cachen nun seit einigen Jahren mit dem Garmin eTrex Vista HCx - das ging uns aber im Urlaub leider verloren, sodass jetzt Ersatz her muss - mit diesem Topic hoffe ich auf einige wertvolle Tipps und Antworten: Preis: Die Hoffnung war, nicht mehr als 200 ausgeben zu müssen - oder sollte man doch mehr investieren? Genauigkeit: Der GPS-Empfang und die Genauigkeit sollte natürlich gut sein. War diesbezüglich mit dem eTrex zufrieden. Bedienung: Bisher Tasten am GPS gewöhnt, aber auf der anderen Seite auch Smartphone-verwöhnt - doch meine Sorge, taugt Touchscreen denn für den Outdoor-Einsatz, von wegen Runterfallen, Nass werden oder dreckige Finger haben? Karten: Hatte eine Topo-Karte auf dem eTrex, die war aber sehr langsam und gewöhnungsbedürftig zu lesen. Heute scheinen OSM-Karten Stand der Dinge zu sein, sollten aber einigermaßen flüssig zu bedienen sein - wie ist das Handling damit? Kompass: Hatten uns bewusst für elektronischen Kompass entschieden und sollte es auch wieder haben, wenn beim eTrex auch nervig war, ihn immer waagrecht halten zu müssen und mit abnehmender Batterie schien er schnell unzuverlässig zu werden. Paperless Caching: Hatten immer ein Smartphone mit c:geo dabei für die Infos. Praktischer wäre natürlich auf dem Gerät alles dabei zu haben - wie ist das Handling diesbezüglich?
