  1. Support for an electricity pole near GC5Y7FA
  2. Many thanks to Muddy_Puddles for confirming that the method still works. Encouraged by this I continued investigating and found that the OS map on the small map on a cache page did work but once I selected View Larger Map I saw a Bing map rather than an OS one. This confirmed that the Bing map key was working correctly and suggested that it was a GME configuration problem. Then I saw this in the GME configuration page: This looked hopeful and I accessed the settings from the gear menu on the main map page and added the custom map line ending up with two Ordnance Survey by Bing custom map settings. Now I can see OS mapping on cache and map pages as intended. The odd thing is that it had worked previously without doing this. But all is well again and I can enjoy caching with knowledge of where footpaths and bridleways are located.
  3. After using the Bing maps quite successfully to show OS mapping on the geocaching map display, it has stopped working! I have tried creating a new map key in case I had exceeded the allowed downloads but the result is the same. I can not recognise the map that is displayed but it has slightly less detail than Mapquest. The map does change when selecting OS by Bing and the correct attribution does appear in the bottom right corner of the map. The map just is not an OS map. Looks like a change in Bing but I am nor sure what. This with Firefox on OSX on two machines. Is anyone else experiencing this?
  4. I had not realised how much I relied upon being able to use OS mapping for looking at cache series until the GME script stopped working. Being able to look at rights of way is for me an essential tool in working out routes etc. Created a trial Bing key and applied it as indicated in the posts above and it has restored the functionality. Will have to remember that it will expire in 3 months time! As far as I can see from the opaque Bing documentation, a basic licence should be free for less than 125,000 "billable transactions" per year. Billable transactions appear to be the number of tiles downloaded divided by eight. But since I am not sure what constitutes a tile, I am not really much nearer understanding if this might be a problem or not! Many thanks for the script and this solution. I am so pleased that I can view multiple caches with OS mapping again.
  5. GME updated to 0.7.3 OS X (Mavericks) Firefox 37.0.1 and latest version of Grease Monkey (3.1) OS maps appear reliably at 2km scale, some tiles missing at 1km scale and no tiles appear at 200m and less scales. Map page shows "Ordnance Survey imagery from Bing Maps". Hope that it will prove possible to fix. Many thanks for the script which I have found extremely useful.
  6. The problem persisted all day and clearing cookies did not help. By the evening the site did not respond at all for me so I guess there was a more general problem. One day later and all is well again. I am able to login normally and can now get down to some geocaching. Cheers.
  7. Tuesday 29th May 08:19 BST After entering correct login details keep getting redirected to login page again. Tried several times. Login details are definitely correct. I think that some of the recent changes have had an adverse effect. I trust it can be fixed so I can take advantage of the unusually good weather in the UK and find some caches!
  8. Many thanks for all the hard work! I really missed the OS maps - caching is just so much more enjoyable with real maps. Cheers.
  9. I use a Mac and a Garmin GPSMAP60cx and find the easiest way to load waypoints is to is MacCaching http://www.maccaching.com/2007/06/09/maccaching-060/ It does require an additional stage between downloading the gpx file and transferring to the GPS, but this does allow you to assemble a bunch of waypoints (including child waypoints) and transferring them all together. Anyway well worth looking at if you use a Mac.
  10. This is an excellent addition and one which I used successfully before the geocaching.com changes. Unfortunately the current version no longer works on a Mac (OS 10.4.9, Firefox 2.0.0.4, GreaseMonkey 0.6.9.200070507.0) and fails in a rather spectacular manner. After installing, all other GreaseMonkey scripts disappear. I have not managed to find the source of the problem but am still looking into it because I would really like to use it again. I will, however, share how to recover once you have tried to install it after my long and painful investigation. So after having tried to install the script and found that although it appears to install, at lest the first time you try, it does not work, the easiest way to recover is to delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox You will of course loose all you Firefox add-ons, bookmarks etc but I have found no other way to recover without having to completely reinstall Firefox. Of course if anyone has managed to use it successfully on a Mac or can suggest anything I should try, please let me know.
