  1. I posted a similar question quite some time ago, but I thought I would toss it out again to the newer batch of valley cachers. Are any of you interested in letterboxes?? If you don't know what that is, you can check it out at www.letterboxing.com. Through the Geocaching site, we can do letterbox hybrids. I placed one last year that has only had two or three visitors; I don't know if this is because of its location or the lack of interest in letterboxing. There are no caching-related letterboxes in the valley area here so I was just curious as to what some of the others think of the idea. With letterboxing, there is nothing to trade usually. You find the location using clues, and you then stamp a log book with your "signature" stamp. It's a very popular sport in England and other parts of Europe. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. 2. Did they notify you that your membership was expiring? I am just curious because we paid by money order through the mail because I don't care to use PayPal. I wasn't sure if they would give notice of when it expired or not. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  3. Marky....Ron is really only 27!!!! Still think he looks good for his age??? Ron...as for the new signature line, glad you enjoyed it. Mark Twain has the best quotes around. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  4. I don't think we have the Stockton Record in any vending machines in the Ceres area...do we?? Thanks for the eggs...I think Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  5. Are the photos accompanying the article only available in the actual newspaper? I didn't see any on the web site. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  6. I have placed 10 caches in cemeteries near where I live. A couple of those are virtuals because I didn't feel there was an appropriate, respectful place to hide a cache. Some folks have made comments about cemetery caches being disrespectful (not necessarily comments here but logs on my pages, etc). I think that if the caches are placed correctly, they are not disrespectful at all. I have a few "rules" I always follow when placing a cemetery cache so as to try and preserve the location just as it was found. My hope when placing cemetery caches is to let people see new and interesting places. My husband and I both enjoy wandering cemeteries and reading headstones, so I figured it would be fun to combine caching with that! Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  7. Here's the link to the Record article: http://www.recordnet.com/daily/news/articles/030503-gn-7.php Hey..it even gives Ron's age!!!! Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  8. Hi Sandy G&M had "Here's George" down in Merced, but it was archived on February 28. That is the only "Where's George" related cache that I know of in the valley area. Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  9. That problem is from my daughter's IB science class, a book called "Conceptual Physics." She will be at her dad's after swim practice today, but I am going to call her and have her read me the exact question..maybe I left something vital out! 10. Does anyone know the answer to this? Actually, I would like to know how to solve it from the beginning! Rain falling vertically hits a car windshield vertically. If the car is moving, the rain hits and then moves across the windshield at a 45-degree angle. How fast is the car moving? You have to work with vectors and stuff to solve that, right?? It was a problem that my daughter had in her homework, and I was not sure of how to solve it. Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  11. Where do people live in Santa Nella? I have only been there when going from Ceres to Monterey, so we always turn right off I-5. There are a few houses to the right, but there must be more somewhere else. We were wondering that when driving through there over the weekend. Are there schools and stuff there too? 12. I can tell you where NOT to eat in Santa Nella, and that would be McDonald's! We stopped there on the way home from Monterey Saturday just out of desperation for a quick bite while driving home. BLECH (But, wait, is McDonald's ever really good??) Ron...the fighting is ugly, stupid, etc., and I am doing my part to get rid of it on my end...deleting my posts as soon as I am done with this. 15. Okay..I know where Longs is. I guess I have just never paid attention. We used to eat at Strings when we lived in Sacramento but never seem to think about the one in Modesto, and now Turlock. Glad to hear there was a good turnout and everyone had fun! I might try to put together another BBQ at our house later in springtime. Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  16. So, Tammi, I didn't see any pictures of your belly-dance at Strings. How did it go?? From the posts on the page, it looks as if there was a full house. I didn't even realize there was a Strings in Turlock and still can't place it in my mind! Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.

  19. quote:Originally posted by Camelot Cache Hunters: If I want to change the coordinates and rehide will I be able to bring this back from the archives? David, I don't think you can un-archive a cache, but I could be wrong. I have only used the "temporarily disable" function on caches that were missing. Once I decided if I wanted to replace them, I took it from there. Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  20. Pure Evil...thanks! I read Mr. Toad's signature line and sent a private email regarding it. I am trying to avoid any further conflict in a public forum, and it would be nice if others would do the same. Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  21. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I hope everyone has fun at the get-together tonight! Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
  22. quote:Originally posted by JaimeeG: quote:Originally posted by georgeandmary:Jamie, way to jump to conclusions but it wasn't you're cache. george LOL..yea, I'm buying that!! Is it jumping to conclusions or being realizing of situations?? Hmmm...not sure! When I just looked back at the top of the thread, the person starting this topic was asking cache owners if their experiences with placing caches on private property had been positive or negative. Like usual, the CVC bunch has managed to turn it into a bickering! I have a cache on our property, and my husband does too. My cache is at the back of our acreage, while his is at the front. You can access my cache from a canal bank or by walking through the pasture. A few cachers have taken the walk through the pasture because we happened to be home and told them it was okay. I have had concerns about doing that though because we have horses and I worry about someone getting injured and being sue-happy. My husbands cache sits near our brick fence in the front of our property. Actually, it technically isn't on our property anymore but instead is on the easement. As stated previously, it is in direct vision of large windows and our front door. The cache was placed there because my husband wanted it somewhere safe. He had it placed elsewhere, and, because of its size, it was found by noncachers shortly after being placed. Do we sit around and watch out the windows to see if we can catch a cacher? Uh..no. We have been home when some people have hunted the cache, and my husband will usually go out and say hi. Overall, I like the idea of having caches on our property. We can do pretty much whatever we want (within the Geocaching rules, of course) and also don't have to be concerned about the cache being plundered, etc. Jaimee Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths.
