When I think of toads, I think of nasty little wart-laden critters. Frogs are cute though! Let's make it a frog! Jaimee After I read that again, I figured that, inevitably, someone would think I was being mean to Mr. Toad with my comments. Just so everyone knows, that was not the case. Frogs are just cuter than toads! "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  2. Patterson is an easy shot from where we live. We just pop on Central and head out to Main. It is nice when we want to get on I-5. Anyone have big caching plans for the weekend? We are having a little get-together for my daughter's birthday tomorrow..no caching for me! Have a good weekend all. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  3. Let's pith the lil' dude before it gets outta control Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  4. There are also a few out toward Valley Springs, Farmington, up Hwy. 4 toward Copperopolis, some in Angels Camp, etc. Are the foothills just as far from you as the Bay Area? I have no clue on the mileage there. It takes us about an hour to get to Angels Camp from Ceres. 5. Happy belated birthday to Mike Morris. I wanted to post this last night but couldn't access the forums! I hope your day was great Mike! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  6. Okay..last night I saw some posts that are no longer here today...weird! I wanted to respond to George's post in which he requested more caches, but I was unable to do so last night because the forums were down. Is 2259 caches in a 100-mile radius of the Patterson zip code not enough? It seems that would provide ample caches for you (George) to hit 1000. There also are quite a few floating around the valley that I don't see your name on yet either Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  7. There is a thread under the General forum (I think that's where I saw it) talking about notification. It must be something with Geocaching because lots of people are having the same problem. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  8. Is anyone else not receiving email notification when someone finds a cache that you have placed? Pat was telling me that he wasn't getting emails, and I discovered several logs on my caches that I didn't know about. We didn't change anything, so I am guessing it's something with the site...anyone know for sure or anyone else experiencing the same thing? Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  9. We ended up heading to Turlock today so I could grab Pat's two other new caches as well as to try for a couple others. One of Pat's new ones was already missing, before ever having a logged find. Very odd, especially considering the fact that where he showed me it had been placed was not somewhere out in the open that would have easily been spotted. Oh well..ya just never know. We also ran into Duelly at that spot and had a nice chat. It's always fun to meet cachers while out hunting. Now it looks like the rain is moving in. BIG dark ugly cloud over the pasture....YIKES! Guess I finished my cache day just in time. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  10. Sounds like a nice time in Murphys, Ron. I wanted to check out the Celtic Faire in Angels Camp but was concerned about the rain. I did get to find a cache today though. We went to a movie in Turlock and I then found one of Pat's new caches. I wasn't aware of the others until after we got home..grrrrr Oh well..at least I got the FTF baby! Can't wait to read the comments when some others find it. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  11. Does anyone know how to find out what day a membership expires?? I know that some folks have had theirs expired with no notification and others have received emails alerting them that this would happen. Any info would be great! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  12. Best of luck in your quit Cabernet. I quit 1 year, 11 months, 1 week and 1 day ago! After trying to quit previously using smoking cessation aids, I just decided to do it cold turkey this time. You have done the hardest part (according to the "experts") by getting the nicotine out of your system, which takes 72 hours. Get yourself a quit meter..they are great to watch as your quit date gets further and further back! I use SilkQuit. There are also some awesome smoking support groups online. Freedom From Smoking is what I used. They advocate quitting without any nicotine replacements. Stay tough..you can do it! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  13. It seems that even creativity doesn't help in some cases. The caches that seem to be the safest are micros. Most of my regular size caches have disappeared, and they were in places that I really figured were safe..oh well! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  14. "Geocacher thief" might not be the appropriate term to use there. My guess is that when caches come up missing, it is the work of someone who happens upon them and decides to take them. When you place a cache in a public place, non-cachers are going to come across it. Also, you have to remember that each and every time someone visits a cache, attention is called to that spot, thus making it more likely that it will be checked out by others. As for the cache on the hilltop that is missing, that could also be the work of an animal or, as already mentioned, a park ranger. It is just my opinion that most of the missing caches are not the result of rogue cachers! 16. I have a question about puzzle caches. How are they approved if the approvers don't know where they really are? Do you have to submit the actual coordinates to the approvers? I was just curious because it seems that if you don't have to show where the cache actually is located, you could bypass a lot of the Geocaching "rules" if you chose to do so. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  17. Man, that sounds like a pretty full day! Not sure if we are heading up that way or not. We might opt for staying local and hitting some of the caches around here instead. So many new ones and so little time. Have a good weekend all. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  18. Anyone journeying up to Sac for the pizza party? We had a really fun time when we went last month. Since we have done little to no caching since that time, maybe we should spend tomorrow caching in Sac and then hit the bash..hmmmm Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  19. I had planned on caching today but decided that I would wait until Pat and I could go together. It is a great day to be outside though! My daughter has a swim meet this afternoon so I will get to enjoy some sunshine then. Pretty sad when you have to keep explaining each and every comment you make, huh Mike?? I guess the alternative is to just spit out what you want to and not give a hang who gets their feathers ruffled Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  20. quote:Originally posted by C&MMorris:WOW!!!!! I have never met a woman who didnt have a size requirement........... Mike I actually gave up on any size requirements some time ago and learned to settle. We ARE talking about caches, right??? You dang perv Morris Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. 21. No apology was necessary Bill....I was just joking! Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  22. Good luck in getting a stamp made, Fizzy..it would be pretty cool if you could get your caching logo transformed into rubber! I have over 1000 (yes, you read that right) art rubber stamps, and I think that is why I was interested in the whole letterboxing idea. The fun part about letterboxing is that you get to compile a journal/log of all the boxes you find. It's fun to look at later and see where you have been, etc. Most people make notes in their journals about where they were, how they got there, and other details like that. If I get in the hidin' mood again, I will plan another letterbox and see how it goes over. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  23. quote:Originally posted by Green Achers:I'm planting a cache in Manstinka this weekend that I've been planning for a while. It will meet Jaimee's requirements (Regular sized) I have requirements?? If I do, they certainly have nothing to do with cache size!! (open to interpretation) Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
  24. The stamp can be anything you choose; it does not necessarily have to be your name. The stamp in the box itself is not anyone's name. The reason for that "requirement" is to keep it as a letterbox. If it were a log to sign, it would be no different than a regular cache, in my opinion. You can buy art stamps at most craft stores (Michael's, Beverly's, etc.) and at tons of online rubber stamp dealers. There are also many online sources for custom rubber stamps if that is what you are looking for. Heck, you can ink your thumb and stamp the log book if you want! So, Fizzy, do you think that is the reason for people in general not visiting the cache, or is that just your reason? That is not a sarcastic question, by the way..just in case anyone wants to interpret my tone there I most likely won't be placing any others in the area as I have said I wasn't doing any more hiding, but I was just curious as to some of the ideas floating around about letterboxes. Jaimee "Noise proves nothing. Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she had laid an asteroid." Mark Twain
