  1. Ooops, so I now need to go back and sign the log I forgot to sign because my nine year old was excited as only a nine year old can be because we found our first travel bug?

And the two micros we found that had soaked logs?

This does lead me to see the need to carry in generic supplies that might be needed.

  2. Scottfla, I agree that the cemetary in Boston - "The Granary Burying Ground" - is a fascinating look at history. And to answer your question, yes - there is a cache there - one of the more inventive micro-caches I have found.

Ahhh, of course there is a cache there :D Too bad I didn't know about it, that cemetary was amazing. We did try a cache near our hotel but it got dark before we found it so we had to head back. Living in Florida my entire life (except for a short period living in Nome Alaska), I was not ready for the hills in Prospect Park :D

  3. I also think cemetaries should be respected but feel that using a cemetary is fine. I haven't done any of the cemetary caches here but the ones I have looked at really seem to use the history of the people buried there to make the cache an educational event and that is a good thing.

The cemetary in downtown Boston was amazing...to see where some of the victims of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere, John Hancock and other historical figures were buried was very interesting. We simply don't have that history down here.

Is there a cache there? We were wondering as we walked around that ancient place.

  4. Hey, thanks for the replies (and nice site, Miragee). I have read all the faq's and gone over all the rules bu that isn't my problem. I have some really cool ideas about caches that aren't answered in any of the faq's  I guess I need some advice on the creativity side of placing a cache. I have some grerat ideas, like I have said, but wouldn't mind a place to bounce them off of someone else that won't be searching for them or placing their own copy of my idea a day before I do

And Capaldo, I am actually off right now to go check out the Florida Caching site.

  5. Here's my dilemma:

I have some great ideas for caches but don't really know any local cachers yet and wouldn't really want to bounce ideas off them since they'd be out (hopefully)hunting the cache once it was approved...

So what do you guys do when you have a really great idea but don't know if it's doable?

  6. Tallahassee.

But is it me or are people more snippy with each other here in the last week? I know how internet forums go but this one is extremely well behaved but the last couple of days there has been a lot of yelling and screaming.

  7. As a realtor, do you find it hard to resist the urge to to show clients houses only because they are in proximity to a cache you have not yet logged?

    :P

"Now, feel free to check out the house, upstairs and around the back yard. Don't forget the jacuzzi tub in the master bath! I'll be back in about five minutes. I just need to call the office and my cell phone is getting bad reception right here Ok? Great!"

Hmm, that's a good idea but here in Florida, it is so hot, I don't think I'd appeal to any buyers after scrounging around in the woods for a few minutes

  8. I want to put out my first cache this weekend and have some neat ideas for it. I have a good location and what I think is a neat idea for the hide.

Is there anything you would have done differently on your first hide that maybe isn't covered in the faq's and hundreds of posts (some of which I have surely missed). Thanks for any advice!

  9. I live in the same town as Tally dragon and it is for the most part a very safe city. However, I understand what he's trying to say.

I'm a big guy and wouldn't really be too worried about any of the caches in the area but the other day while taking the entire family out, we went looking for a cache in an area of town that may not be the best area. The park was very pretty but on the way out, we had a not quite edgy encounter and it really made me think about what we were doing.

Should that cache be there? Sure. Should we as cachers use a bit more caution in what we do? Sure. But should caches be in areas that really are trouble areas? No.

  10. This happened to me last Saturday! We were so excited to meet fellow cachers, we simply wandered up and after we all spoke, we all started searching. This was after my 18 month old grabbed the other parties GPS and made for the hills! He wanted the FTF!
