  1. Found one today with c:geo. The manual certainly helped and, I'm assuming, the GPS app thing. Used the radar and it led me right to it. Still going to use the GPS I have ordered but it is nice to have a backup. Now if only the snow would go away.
  2. Found the manual. Thank you! Downloaded GPS status and tool box and now have radar. Gonna give it another go tomorrow. As for spending the $10, I won't until I know if it is the app, the phone, or me making mistakes. If I am a stone cold moron (which may be the case) then a paid app won't do me any good. Phew...calmed down a bit. I'm no good at technology and I tend to get frustrated at times. I can fix a 1960 Harley Davidson with my eyes closed but put a smart phone in my hand and it all looks like heiroglyphics. Buy hey, I am willing to learn.
  3. Is there some kind of tutorial for this app? I've tried using it the past couple of days and so far it has yet to tell me anything useful. Just now I tried to make it work and it told me I had to go 33Km south. That would put me about 30 kilometers into the Atlantic Ocean. Yes the GPS was on and this is a cache that I know where it is. And I did have the right cache selected. On the live map, the caches change position everytime I start the app, the coordinates that show up on compass are not the coordinates for the cache, the description has everything but the cords so I can't put them in manually. I am having zero luck with this thing. Please help me before I ventilate this phone with a 12 gauge.
  4. I think I will wait for the GPS to come in the mail. I must be using c geo wrong or something. I just looked up the same cache and now it is showing a third different location. Sorry for the thread hijack and thanks for the help.
  5. Right, but the problem I am having is the cache is in the wrong place. Not physically, but where the app says the cache is. If I followed the phone, I would be in someones yard and not in the park where the cache actually is. I will try to post some pics of what I mean. This pic shows where the app says the cache is. It's kinda hard to see but it is on the roof of the house. This pic is off google maps when I put in the coordinates. This one is a different cache. The pen is showing where the coordinates are. Yesterday, the cache was in a different spot on the other side of the trees. So the problem I have is the phone navigates me pretty far off. Searching a 300' circle for a bison tube in a tree can be very time consuming. Sorry for the fuzzy pics.
  6. Did you have your gps actually turned on? Yup. It was on. Besides, I can live with that. When looking up the caches, it would point to a spot way off and I couldn't figure out how to get the coordinates. That line is always blank in the description. All I'm going on is where the pointer is on the map. I'd turn the GPS on, zoom in, and press "turn by turn". Once it had me going into a marsh/wetland, and then into someones garage. When I read the descriptions, the marsh one was actually at a cell tower 150' away and the garage cache was in a park across the street. Is there a calibration I have to do for the map or something? They seemed to be consistantly 50 yards east. I have a GPSr ordered but it would be cool to be able to use my phone sometimes too.
  7. I downloaded c geo to my droid x and tried it today. Out of 7 I was only able to find 1. When I got home and checked the map, I was off by about 50 yards on at least half of the caches. User error maybe? Don't know but I am waiting for my Garmin GPSMap csx to come in the mail and will stick to that. I'll use my phone to call people when I get lost.
  8. I downloaded an app called "C:geo" for free. Maybe I'm not using it right but it was pretty useless today. It told me the caches were about 50 yards from the actual location and it doesn't give co-ordinates. Even the phone itself (Droid X with the GPS turned on) told me that my truck was parked in a tree. I am fairly techno-stupid so it is a distinct possibility that I am using it wrong.
