What Do Your Sig Cards Look Like?
kavuday replied to PC Painter's topic in General geocaching topics
That little ammo box is kewl! Did you make it yourself? Nah, I wish. I got a bunch of the little ammo cans from an online military diarama shop and printed up the 'geocaching' stickers on my epson. -

Hints On Gps 60cs?
kavuday replied to friendly four from felton's topic in GPS technology and devices
The limit is 30 characters, which isn't very much. Hopefully Garmin will take notice of all the requests to increase the note space sometime soon. As it is, it doesn't seem to serve its purpose very well at all. -
Yes, I agree 100%. If you're reading this, chances pretty darn good you already own a GPS in which case all you need is the adapter. This is a for a different market I think.

Optimal Pocket Queries - Best Practices?
kavuday replied to scooter!'s topic in GPS technology and devices
Interesting approach you have there scooter!. I prefer the KISS method of a single query that gives me the maximum of 500 caches closest to my home that I haven't hidden or found. That seems to do the trick for me. -
Gpxsonar V1.2.2 Beta Released For Pocket Pc 2003
kavuday replied to -=(GEO)=-'s topic in GPS technology and devices
Something unusual I found after exporting a pushpin file for MS&T. On the map, I noticed that in the note field of caches whose most recent logs are 'no finds', the 'no find' date is being considerd the 'last found' date. Could be user error....it's been known to happen before once or twice. Anyway, thanks for a wonderful product!! -
When renewing an expired domain name, it can take up to 72 hours for it to propagate to all the DNS root servers again...if that is in case the problem. Patience Grasshopper . Oh, BTW, stestardi, we got a trailer. Will fill you all in on the details when IG.O is back up again.

I think you just proved fuzzybears point Freaky Tiki Five. The other 4 didn't even want to get out of the car to help you search, but rather enjoyed the DVD from the back of the car. Now that's geocaching! Well I agree with you 100% fuzzybear. Maybe because you started caching in 01' and I was only a few month behind you in Feb of 02', a time when the calliber of caches that existed in our area was outstanding! I think the oversaturation of micros can be directly attributed to those who just don't know any different. If when I had started caching all that was available to me was 'micronausea' madness, I don't think I would still be participating in the hobby.

Clyde, Didn't you mention in another thread that you would add a special tag for the hint, which would be useful down the road if and when Garmin increases the 30 digit note limit in the 60 series units. I can't seem to find it in help, did I overlook something? Thanks
-
Yeah, that's nice, but I would really like to put this in the the ol' cache mobile. http://www.garmin.com/products/g1000/

It's just been moved to Utilities => Unlock Maps... in the new beta version. Anyway, to clear up the confusion on the 7 digit registration code that Firehouse16 and I have mentioned, here is a screen shot of the unlock/registration process where it asks for that number. We have been able to unlock the maps just fine, but not successfully, at least to my knowledge, register our products since this piece of paper was missing.
-
I would suggest just going to Garmin's site and unlocking/registering from there. I just bought NACSv5 also and went through the same thing you did, only to find that I didn't have that 7 digit registration code either. I looked and looked, but nothing. Thought I lost it, but I guess I'm not the only one. Anyway, the unlock wizard kept giving me errors everytime it tried to connect to garmin.com and register at the end. I thought about calling/emailing Garmin support, however I was still able to unlock the maps for my other gpsr by going to the unlock section of their website. I'm in their system now, so hopefully it's registered. And yeah, like RK said, if the maps are uploading to your gpsr then it is working. They won't upload if you haven't unlocked them.

3 Questions On 60cs And Cityselect
kavuday replied to capt caper's topic in GPS technology and devices
I'm able to mark a waypoint and manually change the coords. I have a 60cs but I don't believe that makes a difference. Try again, I can't think of why they won't highlight for you. -
Yes
-
I do not believe that any cache is too far. There are many caches out there that require much more of a hike than that. Go for it!!
-
Yeah, I'm bored, but you're the ones who will suffer

Ok, I'll bite...being a sucker and all for the photoshop threads. Sorry mom.
