  1. MissJenn if you and Spoon aren't tired of us by then you are welcome to join us on Saturday as well. We can even plan to head out early and hit a few before we meet up with the group.

We almost always eat at this one resturaunt in Coupeville when we cache Whidbey called 'The Mad Crab'. They have good food, they are right on the water with excellent views.

What say we plan then to meet at the trailhead parking area at 2:30 for a hit the trail time of 3:00. Sound good?

  2. Do we have a metting time/place set up? The parking lot at the trail head is pretty small so we should car pool as much as possible.

Maybe meet at the trailhead around 11:00 and plan to bring a picnic lunch to the cache site? Enjoy lunch with good friends and a great view?

    Just a thought.

  3. EraSeek could answer this better I'm sure. I think it's about a 1.25 to 1.5 mile hike to the cache from the main parking area that we've always used. I've heard that there are other places to park and get in, but I don't know how legal they are or where.

Also don't forget to solve the puzzle cache that's near by. It would be a nice one to grab on the way back down. Col. Ebey's Time Capsule

Do you remember how long it took you to do the whole thing?

And thanks for reminding me about the puzzle. Lep mentioned that to me, as a back up if I felt like the big hike was too much.

I don't. Time kind of melts away on that trail, in a good way. There is only one part that is tough for me and it's at the beginning and end. The trail from the parking area to the top of the bluff is a pretty good elevation gain in a short distance. (at least for my old knees) Once you are on top though it is a pretty level trail and very easy walking. We tend to take our time and enjoy the walk and as I said, time seems to just slips away and you simply enjoy the views and the serenity of the place.

  5. I just want your cell phone number.

    Pay-pal me!!! :anicute:

Question, will you be ready to hit 1000 when you get to the island or will you need to do a few first? I'd suggest that we do Ebey Bluffs at a time when you are fresh and able to enjoy the hike. Sunset is awesome, but it's stunning anytime of day. I'd rather do it early in the day and have you at your best than do it later and have you miserable the entire way.

  6. If you check the pinned topics at the top of this forum you'll find one for bookmark lists. In there are several with great caches to do in various area. One area I tell people not to miss when they visit is Whidbey Island. We love to cache up there and always take out of town visitors there.

  7. As mentioned above the best cache rating system that could be designed is already in place. The cache logs. Simply by reading the logs I get a real good idea of the quality of a cache before I head out. If there are a lot of logs with nothing but initials I know not to expect much.

I try to write something personal with each of my cache logs, but sometimes it's hard. I find myself falling back on the 'Thanks for the cache.' type logs for caches that left me wondering 'Why am I here?'. I guess I actually listened to mom when she said if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Since I have to say something in the log in order for it to be accepted by the site thanks for the cache is better than "What on earth made you think this was a good spot to hide a cache?"

  8. In thinking about this some more, I am especially crestfallen because nobody has noted the fine contributions of the three Pennsylvania volunteers. Perhaps I could set up a sock puppet to do that.

I've met two of the three PA volunteers. They are both exceptional people who I am glad to have had the pleasure of caching with.

Some day I'll get the PA tri-fecta. :tired:

  9. IMHO ?? No you found the cache you signed the log book, you should be able to claim the find online.

As for the logging requirements, I think they are silly but they aren't against the guidelines. When possible I comply with them. If I can't I still log the find and hope that the owner doesn't delete my log.

  10. I regularly give blood and platelets at my local blood donation building. I was thinking about maybe you have to give blood, or if you cant (for health and religious reasons) just to ask the front secretary for the "geocaching code” The container would be hidden on the blood buildings land.

Since Blood Donation helps other people, would this be ok?

It’s not really a business so I don’t think it would be soliciting

I wouldn't like it. It sounds like the point of the cache is to get people to come to the blood bank. If there is a reason to visit that location other than to give blood, like a nice park or cool piece of outdoor artwork, then maybe. If bringing people to the blood bank is the only reason then it's a cache with an agenda and those are not allowed.

  11. Mrs. Shop99er is deadly serious about her tiaras. This is the GeoLuau tiara she'll be wearing.

    GEOLUAUtiara.jpg

Yeah, that does say GEOLUAU across it.

MY GOD! do we have to treat her like a QUEEN?????

Are you saying you don't already? Been nice knowing you. :D

  12. Just a heads up to anyone who is thinking that they'd like to have a tiara but haven't gotten one yet. Most craft stores that sell those foam crafts have foamie tiaras. Michaels had theirs for $1 last time I was in there. They are plain but come in several colors. I am bringing over some Luau themed foamie stick'ems to decorate them with so you can make yours special!!!! :D:D:D

  13. I think I have a pretty high tolerance level for objectionable material. I laugh at non-PC stuff all the time, I don't however feel the need to post that to this forum. Just because I don't find it objectionable doesn't mean that it's okay to post.

For such swift action to have been taken I'm sure the mods must have received several complaints.

  14. Enough already.

The fish are on the bus.

Are you saying someone is going to get trouted?

We have more elk in Colorado than elk county has people

There are more elk in my town than there are people.

Do you think it's a Cervus elaphus invasion?

Where's my tinfoil hat? I can't find my tinfoil hat!

It's not the elk it's the moose I worry about.

A moose once bit my sister. Mind you moose bites can be pretty nasti.
