  1. I'll be in and out of Korea all of this year for business. I've knocked out 5 caches so far. Luckily Pyeong Taek has several within easy walking distance of my hotel. But I have taken the subway into Seoul on the weekend to do some sightseeing and grab a cache. Though I do think they overrate their terrain here.
  2. I think Windows defaults to exclusive opens on the com ports, so if program A has COM4 open, program B can't open it at the same time. Try it from a fresh reboot before any othe rprogram has had a chance to commandeer the ports. Lo and behold it works. I was trying the reboot like you mentioned - good idea but it didn't work. What I think was happenning is I was leaving my GPS cable plugged into the converter when I plugged the converter into the laptop. All I know is that it works now! Yeah! Thank you for all the help.
  3. Yeah - and I did a scan with MS Maps to make sure it was also using port 4. Then I checked my driver. But a little extra testing has shown it isn't GSAK. I used an old version of MapSource and that is also having problems. So the problem is probably in the driver for my USB - Com port hardware or with the hardware itself. Or I might have damaged the wiring enough to prevent send to the unit but not back to the computer? Looks like I'll have to call the converters tech support.
  4. I just upgraded from Version 6.0.1 to 6.0.2. Now GSAK can't open the com port to send Waypoints to my GPSr. I also registered at the same time. I have a Garmin eTrex Legend. Unfortunately I don't have a com port on my computer so I have a USB to Com adapter. What really confuses me is I change the data on my Garmin and can hook it up to my Microsoft Streets and Trips with no problem. But GSAK gives me an error: " Error sending waypoints: [ERROR] CreatFile: The system cannot find the file specified. GARMIN: Can't init COM4 " Any idea what went wrong?
  5. I'll take 5! I say put a Jayhawk on it! I know - people associate it with the University of Kansas but it was also what the freedom fighters from Kansas during the Civl War called themselves. Although I do think a sunflower on one side and a pic of Dorothy & crew going up the yellow brick foad on the other would be good!
